First among equals must be this wonderful Harold Lime production that came hot on the heels of his similarly superb DESIRES WITHIN YOUNG GIRLS, the finest film the erratic Richard Kanter (a/k/a "Ramsey Karson") ever made. Sexy and sophisticated, it stands head and shoulders (first of the young'uns to crack a dandruff joke will have to chow down on my fist !) above all other attempts at carnal comedy. Little wonder when you realize that the people behind it had a film-making experience that stretched all the way back to the sexploitation heyday of the '60s. Lime had made the early nudie classic NOT TONIGHT, HENRY as "Ted Paramore" while director Gary Graver ("Robert McCallum" on triple X features) churned out many of the finer simulated sex dramas including the recently redeemed SANDRA : THE MAKING OF A WOMAN.

Lusty private detective Nick Popodopolis (an excellent performance by John Leslie) finds himself embroiled in a complex murder plot after he agrees to take on a case involving former major Hollywood cinema siren Dixie Ray (voluptuous redhead Lisa De Leeuw in fine deceitful, yet still tantalizing form). Nick relates the whole sordid affair to a boozy police lieutenant (a marvelously weary portrayal by Cameron Mitchell).
Director Anthony Spinelli does a masterful job of crafting a flavorsome 1940's period setting while keeping the engrossing story moving along at a steady pace. The smoldering presences of several sumptuous Golden Age favorites provides extra sizzle: Juliet Anderson as brash and predatory bisexual Adrian, Kelly Nichols as Dixie's lascivious estranged daughter Leslie, Hillary Summers as Nick's horny and insatiable secretary Carol, and Veronica Hart as saucy moll Sherry. Moreover, the raunchy dialogue and hot sex scenes ensure that this honey delivers the scorching goods.

This relatively obscure Swedish/French porn film has been resurrected by Klubb Super 8 Video, oddly enough in its English-dubbed version. It's a worthwhile example of '70s international hardcore. Film was made as a companion to PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT (aka GIRL ON HER KNEES), both films produced by Inge Ivarson, with similar cast lists. What is unusual is that both films invited New York porn stars Eric Edwards, Darby Lloyd Rains and Kim Pope to Sweden, and oddly enough represented the end of both Rains and Pope's XXX careers.
Marie Forsa is the Molly of the title, vacationing on the Cote d'Azur with her gal pal Eva (contrasting brunette Eva Axen), with several other girls. But the main content of the film consists of numerous flashbacks by Molly of her life back in Sweden.

Carlos Tobalina in his waning years as filmmaker addresses incest head on in MY SINFUL LIFE, a typically sloppy movie from the prolific pornographer. He misses the point entirely, but at least delivers some diversion for the hardcore fans. Incest can be treated lightly, say as in the classic TOM JONES, but Carlos takes this approach to the extreme, in which the taboo subject is just another topic like stamp or coin collecting. This takes the oomph out of the movie, but there wasn't much there to start with. Danielle, with very little makeup on (makes her fit the young role) stars as a teen who goes to stay with her aunt, complaining (in endless flashbacks) that her adoptive parents have been sexually abusing her for years and years. The fact that she's adopted is delayed (auntie mentions it about the third or fourth reel) so that we can watch wondering about these incestuous parents, played by Rita Ricardo and Don Fernando as "loving" (double meaning) folks.

Complete with dodgy soundtrack and terrible dubbing this is a classic of the genre. If you can get to see this film, get some beers put your tongues in your cheeks and enjoy a piece of so-bad-it's-good porn. The basic story is a girl called Claudia lives with her boyfriend in London. She wants to go and visit her family in Germany/Holland/somewhere in Europe with liberal pornography laws (there is a scene with a sex-shop which indicates somewhere porn is legal and available on the High Street). She engages in a sexual encounter on the ferry on the way over, and then we see various members of her family also engaging in various activities, including a 'golden shower' scene. Finally there is a big orgy when she gets back. Great fun!

I am fascinated about how European porngraphers in the VHS era often used American talent -flown over to appear in mainly slapdash Italian, French or German features, as well as American porn features shot in Europe. This predates that trend, a theatrical movie shot in Holland, with fake credits to hide that fact. It's nonsensical on purpose, satirizing all sorts of things while including many crude XXX scenes. Haven's beauty shines through. She plays a singer whose stage persona is that of an underage teen, on stage with her little teddy bear, singing infantile bubblegum rock music. Authentic recording studio footage is quite realistic, establishing that Annette really sings, and here director Willem van Batenburg can't resist tossing in some satire. In one session, Annette's mean manager is on the phone, not paying attention to her singing her heart out, and in another scene the engineer in the booth is mainly drinking and snorting cocaine on the job.

Real world recognition was withheld from Shaun Costello as few but the staunchest of sex fiends even realized that his body of work sprang forth from the same fertile, deliciously depraved mind. Active in adult in some capacity or other since the dawn of theatrically screened hardcore, he almost miraculously managed to maintain a low professional profile while wholeheartedly doing the dirty on camera by juggling an array of aliases, most frequently "Russ Carlson", uncrowned King of the one day wonder. Affording him the opportunity to pursue an unimpeded public life, this schizophrenia simultaneously guarded Costello from spreading himself too thin throughout the decade.
Representing something of a transitional phase between the grimy one day wonders and the glossy big budget extravaganzas from his latter-day "Warren Evans" stage, the three movies he made circa 1975 as "Amanda Barton" were perhaps his first real opportunity to flex his filmmaking muscles since his astonishing 1971 baptism by fire FORCED ENTRY, a Vietnam vet on the rampage flick predominantly shot at his mother's apartment in Forest Hills ! Experimenting with a more evenhanded approach to the erotic, the Barton trio featured female protagonists who were intentional intimate instigators rather than victims. Sandwiched in-between THE PASSIONS OF CAROL and THAT LADY FROM RIO came MIDNIGHT DESIRES, a slyly sophisticated portmanteau porno the self-deprecating director considers his overall best.

Junior (a early deceased Kevin James) is obsessed with and in love with his sister, the sexy Sherry (Dorothy Le May, frankly "at her best"). They run into Barbara (Kay Parker, still dazzling) on the street, and Junior asks for her address under the pretext of returning some tools that her son Paul once lent him. Later that same afternoon, while Barbara is receiving an erotic massage in her living room from her friend Gina (the incomparable Juliet Anderson), the doorbell rings, and it turns out to be Junior, who arrives carrying an industrial toolbox ("Tools instead of flowers, how original," Gina remarks sarcastically in a now-memorable line). The resulting threesome is intensely erotic, and Junior ends up discovering everything related to Barbara's past sexual encounters with her son Paul, which practically compels him to do the same with his mother (the great Honey Wilder at her peak).
The "Taboo" series, directed by Kirdy Stevens, was a controversial success upon its release, so it seemed quite obvious that there would be sequels (perhaps too many). The first installment broke the mold with its depiction of incest between mother and son, and with this sequel, they aimed to go even further by breaking other taboos as well (brother-sister, father-daughter, etc.). Incest, a topic generally considered unacceptable in Western culture, was a very popular theme in adult films during the genre's golden age (although it now seems to have resurfaced with more fervor than ever in 21st-century porn). After tackling it in the successful original film, Kirdy Stevens and screenwriter Helene Terrie abandoned any inhibitions about its treatment, making "Taboo II" the next in a series of installments.

Her plans change after she overhears the lovemaking of Peter and Ursula, a honeymoon couple in the next room, and her fantasies rekindle her passion. Hedging his bets, Pécas shot both this and FELICIA soft-core with hardcore inserts to assure entrance to multiple markets. While Gambier, and to a much lesser extent Lemoine, had no qualms performing their own penetration shots, mainstream refugees (and subsequent prodigal sons, finding their niche on French TV) Darbois and Dany resorted to stunt doubles for their participation. As the focus remains on the resplendent Karine throughout, the sex scenes barely suffer as a result, the group grope pile-up a predictably crotch-grabbing climax though the comparatively low key liaison between Laura and Peter (occasionally morphing into his mustachioed Doppelganger Jack) the entire movie builds towards proves no less potent.

Pornography and daytime soap operas have a lot in common in terms of subject matter -and WILD DALLAS HONEY exploits that fact. Talented screenwriter Jeffrey Fairbanks (who wrote several classics for Bob Chinn) takes the director's chair successfully.
Story revolves around Honey Wilder and her unsympathetic hubby Eric Edwards (wearing a mustache this time out). Wilder's carrying a torch for her previous beau Randy West, seen just getting out of prison in the opening scene. Along the way, before a happy ending that sorts out all the melodrama, Wilder is comforted by her lesbian gal pal, well-played by Sharon Mitchell. Edwards' first wife Shana shows up, a scene-stealing Anna Ventura, billed here early in her career as "Jasmine DuBois". Brooke West also makes a strong impression paired with Randy West. Tigr guest stars as a country singer at the local Water Wheel honky-tonk, and is alluring but oddly recites her lines as if by rote in an otherwise quite well-acted movie.

Shot on video with the contemporary elegance of the adult production company New Sensations, and with that unmistakable reference to the overexploited shades of Grey, "The Submission of Emma Marx" takes on another pseudo-romantic version based on female exploitation and her "virginal" vulnerability to the dominant, heteronormative man. In this case, Emma Marx (modern porn icon Penny Pax) is a young woman who, despite being objectively attractive and self-confident, finds her romantic relationships monotonous. That is, until a chance encounter with a mysterious man she must interview for work, a Mr. Frederick (Richie Calhoun), seduces Emma and introduces her to a new and erotic world of self-discovery. Through a contractual BDSM relationship, Emma explores the limits of surrender and freedom, both physical and emotional. The plot delves into how this lifestyle challenges her and leads her to question her own boundaries, exploring these dynamics of control and submission.
The film aims to explore the complexity of sexual freedom and obedience, as well as the challenges that arise when personal boundaries are questioned. The presence of other characters, such as his sister Nadia (Riley Reid) and his brother-in-law Ray (Van Wylde), complements a narrative development that, while stylish and well-constructed, barely offers a critical perspective; on the contrary, it is a toxic revelry of the infatuation most attributed to puberty.
Admittedly, we don't expect a philosophical analysis of the interactions between the characters here, as this could be considered a typical pornographic film. However, the inconsequential nature of the narrative and the final, poor cinematic value only remind us how far behind the classic talents of the Golden Age of adult cinema have become. And this is a compelling reason to lament.

Surprisingly still without a review on IMDb, FANTASEX, I can only assume, owes its relative obscurity to rights owner Cecil Howard's decades-long moratorium on home video releases. With the film finally gussied up and available again on Blu-ray, now is the perfect time for viewers to acquaint (or reacquaint, as the case may be) themselves with this frothy Golden Age classic.
Generally described as a porn take-off on THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY, FANTASEX follows shy copyeditor Bernard Lipshitz (Jeffrey Hurst), who toils away at a one-handed publishing company. Sick of his life and bored by his job, he frequently slips into reveries co-mingling his reading material with his personal desires. In addition to the requisite sex, however, there's also a healthy dollop (almost certainly born of Findlay) of surprising misanthropy, with fantasies featuring Lipshitz castrating his abusive boss with a saber, tossing his wheelchair-bound mother down the stairs, and violently raping the castigating office secretary (Jennifer Jordan) at knife-point. While the lyrical love scenes are what I remembered most from my first viewing, I was surprised to find such a nasty streak revisiting the film all these years later.

Brie Livingston (a sensational Hillary Summers, in perhaps the best performance of her distinguished career) plays the clumsy waitress at “Eileen’s,” a trendy Manhattan hangout where A-listers hang out. Brie seizes the opportunity to get close to long-suffering agent Ira Daniels (Robert “Bolla” Kerman) when temperamental star Diana Farnsworth (Jennifer Jordan, doing an effective Bette Davis impression) storms out. It turns out that Diana, a faded screen diva, is worried about playing a role she’s clearly too old for (a showgirl who’d rather join troops overseas than entertain them). Then Brie shows up, intending to be his personal assistant, and skillfully manages to win the sympathy of Farnsworth’s entourage, using sex and blackmail to achieve her goal.
“The Budding of Brie” is an adult reimagining of Joseph Leo Mankiewicz’s classic, “All About Eve” (1950), and has always had a reputation for being “overproduced,” meaning that the production value (costumes, props, locations, etc.) completely overwhelms the sex. When evaluating the erotic content, it’s almost impossible to disagree with this assessment. With a few exceptions, the sex scenes seem rushed and lack the spark that director Ron Sullivan (Henri Pachard) brought to other projects of the same era. Perhaps that’s why it’s so great to see such a sumptuous adult film, one that could compete with its Hollywood counterparts.

The three starring angels (Tracey Adams, Jessica Wylde and Steve Drake die sfter having sex in a motorhome crashed into by a wayward driver. Wiliam (played by Randy West) is Heaven's gatekeeper who tells them what's up: they're trainee angels, and in Limbo time is at a ration of one minute there = one day back on Earth. They take advantage of this to go home to visit several people who are scheduled to die. (This film posits a deterministic universe, in which God has designated exact times for people to die.) The angels interfere, protecting people and having sex with them. They get back before William returns in five (Limbo) minutes and he reprimands them, but sends them back to Earth for perhaps a sequel, only commanding them not to change fate.

Burt (Randy West, then new to the business) is going through a rough patch and has to deal with a strange and mysterious girlfriend and a friend, Ron, who looks down on him. His financial situation suddenly changes when, due to a bank error, he finds himself with $300,000 in his account. Before anyone notices, he transfers the money to a Swiss account and sets off to explore Europe alone. Unfortunately, along the way, the naive Burt falls into all sorts of traps and scams, from a Parisian hotel waiter (a Ron Jeremy as entertaining as ever) to the father of a German peasant woman he's just seduced in the barn. Broke and abandoned by fate, our hero eventually runs into an American traveling tourist who accompanies him to the curious and redundant end of his adventure.
Two movies for the price of one, because "That Lucky Stiff" was filmed at the same time as "Bon Appétit" (1980), making the most of the same European locations and the travel costs the crew had to incur to transport the entire cast and crew. Ultimately, the film shows a more relaxed and easygoing side of the late Chuck Vincent. It was never conceived as the improvised B-side of a blockbuster, but turned out to be, as expected, much funnier than the prestigious project it was supposedly complementing. The best part is Ron's scene in the massage parlor, with the greedy assistants Samantha Fox and Candida Royalle, who charge him generously for every extra service they offer. A very funny romp.
