Film starts out to be funny, then gets weird, and "Felicity Split" seems to be having trouble focusing her eyes; more like a zombie following directions. I felt sorry for the actress, clearly it seemed she was in a production that consumed her. Lots of of closeups of her rather pretty face, large Betty Boop eyes and defined cheekbones, but her catatonic reactions, silly smiling and staring were barely tolerable. After the first 15 minutes of fun and laughter the audience got quieter. Overall this film is a few notches above standard 16mm loops, in the same class of a similar film titled WET RAINBOW, with another obscure ingénue with one starring credit to her name. This is one of a handful of BETTER BUDGET ADULT FILMS that were very popular in the early 1970's. I noticed that hippie culture and hippie references were COMPLETELY absent from these films; in that sense they were mainstream even though there were huge centerfold ads for the premiere in Screw Magazine (a defunct New York underground newspaper).

The Lewis "Brothers" (director Louie, producer Elliot, with "sister" Jo Ann joining them on occasion) are rightfully revered among porn fans for their quickly shot, cheaply produced yet star-studded little numbers which always looked like they cost a whole lot more than they actually did. Mainstream take-off 8 TO 4 may have proved their biggest success but still wouldn't make it into my personal top 3, consisting of TOUCH ME IN THE MORNING, PLEASE MR POSTMAN and this delightful romp inspired by another Dolly Parton flick, in this case THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN Texas.
The Chicken Ranch becomes the Feline Farm, a rural bordello run by third generation Madam Mavis, played by genre goddess Annette Haven. A local preacher man wants to put her out of business and it's up to the proprietress and her girls to thwart his efforts. There's a little bit more to the plot with new boarder Tammy Sue (delicious Danielle, the "woman who was born hot" as late porn critic cum filmmaker Jim Holliday christened her) being shown the ins 'n' outs of the play for pay business, but this is basically wall to wall carnality.

The fourth episode of this long-running series (clocking in at over twenty official entries as we speak) and my personal choice for its highlight deals - as did the bestselling original - with incest, a theme that was smoothed out as the series progressed (like, past the sixth installment, you can pretty much forget about it), and does so with a surprising amount of earnest. Ginger Lynn (Allen) shines in an early career showstopper as the younger of two sisters (the other being the even more impressive Karen Summer, always an underrated commodity in X-rated movies) whose stable family life moves into turmoil when mom Cyndee Summers (a veteran from the early 70s, check POOR CECILY) embarks on an affair with current director John Leslie, the womanizing brother (and as it turns out Summer's real dad) of husband Jamie Gillis. The latter's a shrink who specializes in incest and leads a self-support group which gave director Kirdy Stevens the chance to incorporate Kay Parker/Mike Ranger footage from the first film and reintroduce the delightful Honey Wilder as the ooh-can't-keep-my-hands-off-sonny-boy mom from the delirious part 2.

If you were making a movie that catered to the mature woman/younger man fantasy, you could go through the whole array of performers who have appeared in feature-length adult videos and not find anyone better to cast than the fabulous Kay Parker and a youthful Tom Byron. Luckily for us somebody did the right and logical thing here.
Tom's aunt is Honey Wilder, another "mature" wonder. (In porno terms that means over 30.) She's concerned about the way her nephew is behaving, locking himself in his room and not coming out. That's because he's spying on some neighbors across the way, two stewardesses who unwind on layovers by engaging in wild sex play. They are played by Joanna Storm and Laurie Smith, another piece of inspired (and logical) casting. An eager Paul Thomas will go along with whatever they want, including wearing a bunny suit! This does come off before any sex scene begins, be assured.

The plot is well thought out with Simone and Gina (Brigitte Lahaie and Lidie Ferdics) the two put-upon maids who plan to get their revenge by matching up the son, Luca with his cousin Fanny but as this is a porn film then there is more than just this. For those who like close-ups of female genitalia, then they should be satisfied but there are missed opportunities for more erotic scenes between Luca and Martha, the older woman, surely every schoolboy's fantasy. The film benefits by being shot in beautiful locales which all add to the film's attraction. The tennis court area has since been redeveloped into a tourist establishment. I still think that a little less porn and a bit more erotica would have really been the icing on the cake.

Shaun's film has a very interesting structure in addition to the teasing use of Murray. First, Leslie's beautiful still photo dominates the credits sequence, yet she does not appear for so many reels in the film proper and is not a main character. Instead, we have a NYC-based cover story of doctors led by Jamie Gillis working with seriously mentally ill Alice Randall (blonde Colleen Anderson in the film's title roles), married to very sympathetic and concerned husband Martin Randall (Costello, in one of his rare sincere performances, never tongue-in-cheek for a change).
Through flashbacks and under the influence of sodium pentathol injections, we discover that French-Canadian orphan Alice had a Siamese twin Eva from whom she was separated who is incarcerated at Harienwood Asylum in Quebec. The tortures sis experiences at the hands of some very creepy staff there (well-played by Marlene Willougby, R. Bolla, Roger Caine, David Morris and others) are sympathetically experienced by Alice in twin fashion.

Howard Winters a/k/a "Cecil Howard" is one of the most ambitious filmmakers ever in the adult field. While many of his contemporaries contented themselves by grinding out movies that bore a passable resemblance to what was coming out of the mainstream with a little bit of story and acting that didn't totally suck, Howard went all the way, constructing complex plots, eliciting exquisite acting from porno professionals not necessarily known for their thespian prowess, shooting and editing the whole thing as efficiently as anything a major studio could come up with at that time. NEON NIGHTS marks something of a crossover in his career, wedged between the glossy elegance of FANTASEX and PLATINUM PARADISE and the angst-ridden emotional exploration of SNAKE EYES and STAR ANGEL. Not coincidentally it was his first cooperation with screenwriter Anne Wolff a/k/a "Anne Randall" who would go on to pen most of his later, "deeper" work

By the early '80s, Gerard Damiano had little left to prove. Acknowledged as one of the genre's best and most innovative directors, he may have been looking for a challenge to test his mettle. SATISFIERS OF ALPHA BLUE proved to be his most ambitious project in many a blue moon, the filmmaker displaying sufficient ingenuity to overcome the by now familiar stumbling block of financial restraint. This Shaun Costello joke about Dickens's "A Christmas Carol" maintains a fairly faithful architecture to the novel. The grumpy old man Ebenezer transforms into the sexy but bitter Carol Scrooge (a Mary Stuart who barely lives up to the dramatic character) with that systematic hatred of Christmas, and of humanity in general. She is the editor-in-chief of the beauty magazine "Biva," which features Playgirl-style hunks for its female clientele. And of course, Carol terrorizes her employees and aspiring models alike, ruling the business with an iron fist. One night, Scrooge receives a ghostly apparition of his former partner, Marley, dragging the weight of his sins in chains. He warns Carol about the error of her ways and informs her that she will be visited by three spirits: The Ghost of Christmas Past, who returns her to the innocence of childhood where Carol manipulates her best friends into performing pre-adolescent physicals; the Ghost of Christmas Present, hosted by a tart-tongued drag diva, who shows her the happy, familial life of one of her abused employees; and the Ghost of Christmas Future, who guides Carol toward the possible hell that lies ahead in a dingy motel room as she forlornly sucks off and then rides a tortured client. This nightmarish glimpse provides her with all the epiphany she needs to change and wholeheartedly embrace the Christmas spirit.
