Though the "couples film" craze didn't properly take off until the early '80s, when they were massively hyped and promptly died (at least in terms of quality), this sub-genre has been present in embryonic form since the dawn of theatrical porn and more specifically the Mitchell Brothers' classic BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR in 1972. The late Sam Weston (a/k/a "Anthony Spinelli") had some mainstream experience as a producer, funding Larry Peerce's then groundbreaking interracial romance ONE POTATO, TWO POTATO with the brilliant Barbara Barrie in 1964. He was also the brother of popular comedian and character actor Jack Weston. In his subsequent sexploitation and hardcore porn efforts, he always attempted to add those qualities readily associated with Hollywood studio releases, such as credible characterization, professional acting standards and occasionally ostentatious production value, in this case the renting of a private plane seemingly piloted by lead actress Amber Hunt. Speaking of whom, Hunt had caused quite a stir as Hustler magazine's November '75 "Honey", which is their version of Pets and Playmates, on the strength of which she was cast in this, her acting debut. A wide-eyed beauty possessed by a demonic sexuality (witness her fist-taking abilities yup, you read that right ! in Bob Chinn's classic doctors 'n' nurses romp CANDY STRIPERS).

It has been a while since I saw this film (at the now gone Cinéma Du Nord in Brussels) but I do remember as one of the most radical and beautiful adult film experiences of my entire life. The huge theater, nearly empty but for myself and a few other lost souls, was forever shrouded in darkness, even when the lights came on, a few dim bulbs right at the entrance which somehow managed to leave most of the area in comforting obscurity. How fitting for this downbeat masterpiece dealing with the darkness within man's soul to be screened here. The credited director, Richard Mahler (HER NAME WAS LISA and MIDNIGHT HEAT are additional porn classics to his name), is actually Roger Watkins as has recently been revealed in both magazines and on the net, the man responsible for the ultra-disturbing LAST HOUSE ON DEAD END STREET. It somehow figures... Genre stalwart Jamie Gillis heads the cast as a man involved in a business deal with some very shady mafia types who will not hesitate at threatening or hurting both his family and friends to assure his full cooperation. He enters a seemingly disused building where he is guided through a number of color-coded rooms, witnessing some pretty strange goings-on. Some of these things are decidedly sexual in nature yet devoid of love or any recognizable human emotion.

Using the format of guys telling tall tales around the campfire, EROTIC INTERLUDE(S) is little more than a loop carrier. Shooting on film rather than video is its virtue. Picture starts off promisingly with intimations of DELIVERANCE (including obligatory banjo music) as our motley heroes in two rafts go through white water in what looks like a dangerous shoot. Once they're back on dry ground the film falls apart, just a series of sex scenes presented as recollections by the men in the "can you top this?" category.
Kevin James recalls a high school tryst with cheerleaders spotlighting Linda Shaw (who is too old for proper casting, especially with so many nymphet starlets available in 1984). Ron Jeremy's segment is kinky, involving Angel Cash (lactation action) and Aunt Peg -Juliet Anderson as secretary and would-be sec'y, ending typically with Ron sucking his own cock.

Even though, as Stephanie, the "man" knows what's going on and he also understands that he's in a woman's body. Do you really think this "man" in this "woman's" body would be so willing to just hop in bed with every guy?

The well-known morbidity of voyeurism is what Maestro Leroi wanted to convey with Jeux de Langues (AKA Couples Voyeurs et Fesseurs). For all of us who like this concept for its own sake, we must add the BDSM scenes that, without being especially harsh or “professional”, will fulfill the desires of a few of us.
The performances are weak, and the sexual numbers are erratic and poorly prepared, with absurd conversations in hasty contexts and without much meaning. But in the end, all that doesn't matter, because Monique Ciron, a secondary diva of French adult cinema, is shown in all her splendor.
That said, fetishism comes together here when Hélène and Henri become casual witnesses of the depraved acts of their neighbors across the street. They decide to borrow a camera and proceed to record everything live. Right until the targets realize their exposure, and invite the couple to take part in their games, in a final scene as boring as it is cliché. But until they get here, the tasty couple, fed up with their sexual routine, has already been doing dirty things with randomly selected couples in the countryside without any predisposition or explanation. The script is therefore weak and inconsistent, but definitely exciting.

I am Joyce James. I wrote, directed and produced "Driller." I' wanted to thank the lady poster for understanding that Driller was not a "tribute" to Thriller, or Michael Jackson--but precisely the opposite! At the time Thriller came out, my son was 4 years old--and was simply obsessed with the werewolf transformation in the "behind the scenes" of Thriller footage. I was sick to death of both MJ and Thriller and horror movies. I was also sick to death of porn movies with stilted plot lines--which were the staples of 70 and 80s porn. I foolishly thought I could turn everything on its ear--and make a gender-bending a Rocky Horroresque variation on Thriller.
My goal? To work with a special effects guy, Arnold Garguilo, who made all the appliances for "the Driller." Mostly--I wanted my son to see how FX and prosthetics worked. My son is still obsessed with werewolves--and has even played one in a horror flick!
Have patience on my poor little Driller. I overreached with it, no doubt. But still--the first singing/dancing/horror x-rated flick?? Yeah--I know! What's the market for that?

Taking its cue from Luigi Comencini's 1974 art-house hit MIO DIO, COME SONO CADUTA IN BASSO (a/k/a TILL MARRIAGE DO US PART), this porno period piece is one of the more ambitious adult films on record. Produced and directed with great care by Bill Milling (a/k/a both director "Philip Drexler" and his producer alter ego "Bill Eagle") who made this between his surprisingly witty SATIN SUITE and his frivolous fantasy DELICIOUS, it does a good job of recreating the early 20th century and more specifically Hollywood depictions thereof, occasional anachronisms (such as electric lights !) notwithstanding.
The part of convent-bred rich girl Heather was a breakthrough role for talented thespian Veronica Hart, just hitting her stride following her supporting turns in Leon Gucci's Seka quartet (PRINCESS, TARA, CONFESSIONS OF SEKA & SEDUCTION OF CINDY), and she brings out every single nuance as her character evolves from dewy innocence to knowing worldliness. As stated in her father's will, she's to marry handsome young Frederick (Paul Thomas in an excellent, brooding portrayal worthy of Vincent Price in his Roger Corman/Edgar Allen Poe heyday), the gardener's son who it is disclosed by the spoilsport family attorney on their wedding night moments prior to consummation actually turns out to be her brother!

AMANDA BY NIGHT isn't just the finest sex thriller the adult industry ever spawned, but this one also happens to be one of my favorite porn films of all time, especially but not exclusively because I'm a huge fan of its star Veronica Hart a/k/a adult producer/director/mainstream actress/what not Jane Hamilton. This great lady should seriously consider penning her autobiography someday. Considering she has experienced the adult film industry from every conceivable angle, it would make one hell of a read.
Back in her performing days (okay, she still appears in front of the cameras quite regularly but in a non-sex capacity) she was porn's finest thespian bar none and this film is her high watermark. She's Amanda Heather, high-priced call girl, who finds herself in trouble following the death of colleague Beverley (the late, legendary Lisa DeLeeuw) at the hands of a client she inadvertently enraged. Since Amanda's the one who set up the 'date' in the first place, she may be next on the culprit's hit list. Weary cop Ambrose Hart (perfectly portrayed by the wonderful "Robert Bolla" a/k/a CANNIBAL FEROX's Robert Kerman, 'Tracy' to Veronica's 'Hepburn') gets the unwanted assignment of protecting the prostitute. Once they get past their initial animosity, the two find themselves increasingly attracted towards one another.
