Nearly non-stop sex ensues, an impressively indefatigable Reems tirelessly trawling through some of the choicest cheesecake Eurotica has to offer with such infectious cheer that this never even risks becoming boring. A prime example of this movie's rambunctious brand of cheekiness is provided by the elaborate sequence of shamefully neglected conductor's spouse and former nude model eager to pick up her ancient trade Stephanie Von Rausch, portrayed with abundant abandon by delectable Danish adult actress Lisbeth Olsen, star of Paul Gerber's popular KEYHOLE. As her husband feverishly swings his baton to Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture on a TV set in the corner of the room, the adulterous couple's climaxes are timed to precision to coincide with the piece's gunfire and fireworks crescendo ! Perhaps Denmark's most notorious double act, husband and wife Bent and Anne Bie Warburg, both appear with only the Missus getting her jollies, albeit simulated and body doubled (an old-fashioned gal at heart, she apparently only put out for her man), as Harry's Girl Friday Clothilde, coming to his rescue when he's most hard up, proving that a friend in need is a friend indeed ! The elegant French actress Jacqueline Laurent who portrays lonely publisher's wife Rebecca Walter was memorably cast as Lina Romay's unfortunate mom in Jess Franco's off the wall LORNA THE EXORCIST. As her carnally curious daughter Suzanne, the magnificent Marie Forsa's something of an odd girl out. Discovered by Sarno for his 1973 vampires 'n' velvet opus THE DEVIL'S PLAYTHING, then just barely aged 18 (although she reportedly carried business cards at all times erroneously stating she was a full two years younger than that !), this ultimate blonde and blue-eyed Swedish siren made quite a splash for both her mentors. While no visual proof has surfaced, both Reems and Eric Edwards (her leading man on Sarno's beautiful Butterflies) have gone on record to confirm she definitely did have "real sex" with them while cameras were rolling but insisted on a clause in her contract that none of the "offending" footage could be used so as not to obstruct any envisaged mainstream career which sadly failed to materialize.
Retaining at least the skeleton of the original narrative structure as well as nearly all character names, Ahlberg has fashioned one of his most enjoyable erotic efforts, frequently funny and surprisingly fast-paced for such a hefty running time. It's a measure of the cultural as well as sexual freedom within Scandinavian society at the time that their movie industry's respected professionals might proudly produce pornography without risking any sort of backlash whatsoever. A noted cameraman for Swedish TV and heritage cinema, Ahlberg put his "dirty decade" - which kicked off with 1965's racy blockbuster I, A WOMAN - behind him by crossing the pond to return to his erstwhile occupation as a sophisticated and sought after DoP on ventures like Stuart Gordon's early burst of creepy creativity with RE-ANIMATOR, FROM BEYOND and DOLLS. Sole downside may be Olivier Toussaint's overused theme tune, popping up in an endless number of orchestral variations yet still wearing out its welcome in record time, apparently pilfered from one of the syrupy scores he penned with his composing com-padre Paul de Senneville.

Alex de Renzy's notorious and sleazy porno has Rocky DeSade (Ken Turner) raping his friend's woman before he heads off and starts stalking various hookers. He sexually and physically abuses them but they plan for some revenge when he shows up to a S&M party.
FEMMES DE SADE is a film that has a pretty wild reputation and there's no question that it lives up to it. I had heard all sorts of things about this film but you can never be quite prepared until you actually sit down and watch it. The most amazing thing is that de Renzy manages to put the viewer through all sorts of different feelings while watching this film, which really wasn't an easy thing to do.
Case in point, the opening scene has a man being released from prison and finally being able to get it on with his girlfriend. This sequence just comes across very real and at the same time it was weirdly erotic. You follow this up with a violent rape sequence and you really start to realize that this film isn't going to be shy about anything. We get all sorts of notorious scenes including Turner performing oral sex on himself so he can show a hooker how to do it.

What can you say about a girl like Laure Sainclair? She could be a cover girl for any beauty magazine, yet she chooses to do porn. Never has a woman of such sex appeal ever crossed the porn stage before. French adult cinema, unlike its american counter-part, pays an incredible amount of attention to female beauty, rather than the US who continues to release the usual trash with girls that could quite frankly, haunt houses. The film itself as a whole would be nothing but a comedy without its main protagonist, the lady President. Roberto Malone, who plays opposite Sainclair, is quite frankly the luckiest and ugliest man to walk the face of the earth. The american voice-over which accompanies his gimpish walk is priceless (and you thought the voice-overs in Bruce Lee movies were funny). Never have I pulled away from a film that made me want to impersonate and learn every line of a character's dialogue. The plot itself holds up well for adult cinema and some females I know agree with this observation. However, ladies if you're interested in seeing the film, I've been told by other females that the guy's are not cute. It seems France agrees with the US in one aspect, by placing ugly males in the lead roles. This makes it easier for those who are fat, ugly, and not "getting any," a chance to imagine themselves in the role. This one's definitely targeted to the male population. I give it 4.95 out of 5 (but then again, I'm a guy, but a good looking one at that).

Running through the catalog of Joe Sarno product I've discovered his shot-on-video efforts are a washout, but there are watchable late-career entries shot on film. This is a marginally tolerable one of those.
Blair Castle, better known as Brooke Fields, is the star but Cody Nicole is more impressive here, not just (as we are reminded by the co-stars from time to time) because of her 6-ft. 1-inch frame, I guess making her the Maria Sharapova of porn (don't quote me). It's just that Fields is pretty terrible, sleepwalking through the film with eyes averted or closed, and a horrendous curly hairdo.
They play old school chums (an overused cliché of Sarno's anonymous '80s period) who bump into each other jogging. Turns out Blair has married Cody's old school flame Wilson (an uncredited Joey Silvera), leading to predictable shenanigans.

This low key charmer slipped through the cracks back when it was first released theatrically in 1982, not so hard to imagine considering the veritable embarrassment of riches at the adult aficionado's fingertips. I should know as I started going to adult cinemas in the Spring of that very same year, sneaking in at the tender age of 14 (trivia note : for a double bill consisting of Ron Sullivan's magnificent THE BUDDING OF BRIE and Wes Emerson's endearingly silly STARSHIP EROS), and it wasn't until quite a few years further down the line that I discovered CENTERSPREAD GIRLS on home video, VHS at the time. Yesterday, I revisited Belgium's last remaining "old school" porno palace, the Brussels ABC on the Boulevard Adolphe Max, still valiantly screening ever more deteriorating 35mm copies of classics and crap from the past (hey, just because it's old doesn't necessarily mean it's any good), and guess what was playing, sharing the bill with Bob Chinn's highly enjoyable TELEFANTASY, closing the circle as it wereThe early '80s were good for the late Gary Graver a/k/a "Robert McCallum", teaming up with producer Harold Lime for a number of the most lavish movies the adult industry has ever spawned, along the lines of THE ECSTASY GIRLS and AMANDA BY NIGHT.

The first explicit sex film, made by the late Roger Watkins of LAST HOUSE ON DEAD END STREET notoriety as his adult alter ego "Richard Mahler", may appear the most conventional of an admittedly idiosyncratic lot, followed as it was by such cryptic puzzlers as MIDNIGHT HEAT, CORRUPTION and American BABYLON. With its accessible narrative and unexpectedly powerful anti drug message, HER NAME WAS LISA proves thoroughly compelling though. One of the finest fornication flicks of the late '70s, huge praise considering the genre had just hit an all time high. There's a tiny bit of trivia about this movie that always amuses me, related in a fruitful e-mail relationship yours truly carried on with the director until his untimely passing. The film's funder (as Robert Michaels receives sole credit, I'll have to assume it's him) made but two demands of Watkins : that the main character would be called Lisa as it was the name of his daughter and that there would be a scene of her lying in a casket ! Go figure ! Joking aside, this turns out to be an unusually involving adult drama, not a single aspect thereof inviting derision.

Not just the last movie the late Claude Mulot (a/k/a "Frédéric Lansac") made for French adult theater giant Alpha France, but his hardcore swan song as well before a belated return to the relatively mainstream (albeit with soft porn epic L'IMMORALE, initially intended to signal the cross-over from X to R for luminous lust legend Brigitte Lahaie who bowed out at the eleventh hour), LA FEMME-OBJET remains a peculiar beast in the history of Continental carnality. Originating from an intelligent and literate script that proves a particularly cruel spin on the Pygmalion myth with a dash of Frankenstein, the film offers an incisive critique on the pornographic representation of men (as virile and irresistible) and women (as available and accommodating) by expanding upon these stereotypes, taking them to grotesque extremes. Frustrated by the genre's limitations, Mulot proceeded to give adult audiences "exactly what they wanted". Whether the audience's desire to view anything is dictated by what a movie-making industry has come to dictate through repetition or an active influence on said industry remains open to debate and will forever fuel many an analytical paper.

This may be the most archetypal of all French porn plots: Attractive girl is sent to castle for her sex education, then falls in love with (French) French maid. Who introduces her to the world of gettin' jiggy with it. The girls are luscious, one scene chases the next, there is at least an attempt at a background story and good cinematography; but most of all, there is a fun atmosphere and the girls are treated respectfully.
Christine Schwarz as the central character Jessica is one to look out for, she knows to act and to perform. Many Alpha France staples are on the job here. If you only watch one Alpha France movie, you could do a lot worse than this one.

Extensively hyped by production company Colmax (for whom this title remains an all time bestseller) at the time, REVES DE CUIR represented the first shot on video feature made by the sadly no longer with us longtime filmmaker Francis Leroi, whose career ran the gamut from free-form '60s risqué fare heavily indebted to the French New Wave (CINE GIRL) via '70s soft-core romps (LES TENTATIONS DE MARIANNE) to all out hardcore (JE SUIS A PRENDRE, LA PETITE FILLE AU BORDEL) with the occasional sidestep into outright fantasy (LE DEMON DANS L'ILE). A man of great intelligence and eloquence, he never felt the need to answer for his chosen profession, instead laboring long and hard (keep the penile jokes to yourselves, please !) to make the best adult movies that the limits of time and budget would allow.
Experimenting with the then new technology resulted in what may have been his most unpredictable and adventurous movie since his non-linear, Godard-influenced early days. Working with an eclectic cast comprised of at least four different nationalities, he immediately discarded all dialog, making the finished film both more abstract and universal. The set-up consists of a bizarre, unfathomable incident which could also be interpreted as Leroi's conscious attempt at breaking down the "fourth wall".

Sylvia Bourdon and Béatrice Harnois star as sisters confusingly named Candice and Candy (they look more like mom and daughter, age-wise, and may well have been before this was dubbed into English). Candice is editor of a porno mag and also frigid sexually, for reasons we eventually learn. 18ish Candy is not at all frigid, as we find out fairly quickly. Story takes them, plus some of Candice's employees and Candy's best schoolgirl friend, through a string of sexual encounters. And eventually everything works out.
There's not a lot of plot, admittedly, so the dubbing doesn't get too much in the way. Film is significantly more professional looking than the average US hardcore film of that period, the cast is attractive, and the porn quality is first-rate, though quite mild by present-day Euro smut standards. Gabriel Pontello turns up as a gynecologist (that's scary!) and Jacques Insermini, the French answer to Ernie Borgnine (but what was the question?) also appears.
Film seems never to have been released in the US by any of the major adult video companies but was briefly available in the late 80s on a minor label. My copy runs about 85 minutes and seems a bit abridged during the last third. This film will likely be hard to find but is well worth the attention of Golden Age fans.

Highlight is a BDSM-themed music video starring Hyapatia singing "Hit Me with Your Best Shot" while servicing sex slave Mike Horner, followed by her humping newscaster Buster Cherry, a good ole boy one-shot actor doubled anonymously for the XXX shots.
A quality supporting cast including Karen Summer and Gail Force deliver lots of sex action, plus double entendres and a TV simulcast of Hyapatia's video. Bud plays the advertising manager who name drops the Mitchell Bros. as new sponsors for the usual happy ending.

Sweet and eager virginal bimbo Candy (an endearingly ditsy portrayal by buxom blonde bombshell Carol Connors) embarks on a cheery carnal odyssey after going all the way for the first time with hunky Mexican gardener Manuel (a broad caricature by Don Fernando).
Writer/director Gail Palmer keeps the enjoyably inane story moving along at a brisk pace, maintains an engagingly easy'n'breezy tone throughout, and milks loads of laughs from the merry sense of raunchy humor. Connors's bubbly and voluptuous presence makes this one a total treat to watch: Carol projects a certain disarmingly daffy charm, has a great full figure, and gives her proverbial steamy all in her sex scenes (her strenuous session with the legendary John Holmes as a smooth jogger in particular stands out as the definite scorching highlight). The tip-top cast of familiar 70's adult cinema faces helps a whole lot: Georgina Spelvin as the foulmouthed and uninhibited Auntie Kraven, Turk Lyon as dorky researcher Dr. Hy Kollonic, John Leslie as sleazy gynecologist Dr. Fillmore Entry, and Paul Thomas as horny phony guru Graham Hollander. Bob Lazar's sparkling cinematography provides an attractive bright look. Nice cute'n'catchy theme song, too. And the final gag is simply priceless. An irresistibly silly hoot.

NEVER SO DEEP presents a return to burlesque territory director Damiano explored in his earlier, less pretentious work like MEATBALL and duh ! DEEP THROAT. It's a welcome reminder that he can kid around with the best of them and a sterling sex flick to boot.
Private eye Ginger Trueheart (fan favorite Loni Sanders, star of Shaun Costello's all too aptly named BEAUTY) and sidekick Sam Strong (her then real life husband Mike Ranger) are summoned to the mansion of girlie magazine magnate Huge Heffer (veteran performer Paul Thomas, who played Peter under his real name in Norman Jewison's Jesus Christ SUPERSTAR !) with the assignment to track down a girl he met one drunken night. All he remembers is the butterfly tattoo on her butt and her uncanny ability to down great lengths of the male sex organ ! This zany premise takes our heroes to the seamier side of San Francisco in the early 80s with all sorts of hot action along the way.
