The so-called "Golden Age" of American porn drew to a close by the mid-'80s. Once video took over and budgets as well as production schedules were mercilessly slashed, even the genre's acknowledged film-making greats were reduced to churning out quota quickies. Though still shot on 35mm film, these movies were only granted a token theatrical release in the country's dwindling number of porno palaces unlike Europe, where they had a considerably longer shelf life, this particular title playing the still standing in the face of awesome adversity ABC cinema in Brussels as I write this before recouping their cost on tape. Playing like a demented send-up of his gloomy classic DEVIL IN MISS JONES with a sex change to boot, FLESH AND FANTASY therefore can't hold a candle to its creator Gerard Damiano's masterpieces from the previous decade. In addition, and while he intermittently returned to the form, farce was never his forte, with perhaps only NEVER SO DEEP holding up in its entirety. Still, that's not to say this movie is wholly without merit. It has an immensely likable central performance by the indomitable Ron Jeremy, also the sole male performing stud duties. There's the characteristically capable camera work by Larry Revene, setting the screen ablaze with punched up candy colors. Most importantly, the majority of sex scenes shows the Old Master still hadn't lost his titillating touch.

Very atmospheric in nature. Reminds me, in a certain way, of Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut" with Tom Cruse and Nicole Kidman. Draghixa is quite endearing in her role as the ingenue and was certainly at her most most devastatingly beautiful at this juncture in her short porn career. I have it on my hard disk and still click on it occasionally, sometimes only to watch the erotic solo dance number that serves as the background for the opening credits. Excellent, fast-paced direction with exceptional acting, especially for a porn flick. Definitely a movie that a woman will appreciate for all kinds of reasons. This movie is terrifically difficult to find and my DVD copy is obviously one made from a VHS tape; however, I have not found that the marginal quality of it has detracted from my enjoyment.

Another film about a couple who discover that swinging with other couples can make their own sex life much more exciting.
André Miller comes home from work looking forward to watching the football finals, and discovers that the TV isn't working. So his wife, Danièle David, goes to ask the neighbors in the apartment next to theirs if he can watch the finals on their TV. She interrupts the neighbors, Jean Gerard and Karine Gambier, as he's working in the kitchen nude while she's giving him head. Karine suggests that they come and join them for dinner while Andre watches the finals.
As Andre sits in front of the TV eating, the other three are at the dinner table, and Jean and Karine put the moves on Danièle. They confess to being swingers. At first, Danièle is taken aback and seems reluctant, but gradually she gives in to their seduction. (We get the feeling that her sex life with André is not all that exciting).

This "film" clocks in just under a hour and starts off with four separate girls having sex without using any sorts of protection. The girls then find themselves pregnant so they need to have an abortion so they go to a doctor played by John Holmes who uses his, umm... His "piece" to do the abortion.
I had heard about this film for many years. It seems rumors and myths made it appear a lot worse than it actually or at least concerning the plot. There's no blood or anything graphic shown in regards to the abortion but perhaps a more sinister edge would have helped this film. In all honesty this here is a quickie that was turned out for very little money and I doubt anyone was intending to make a good picture.
For the most part it's very poorly filmed, the sex scenes are rather lame and the so-called plot is really dumb. The first thirty-five or so minutes has the women encountering men and then we get to the Holmes sequence at the end. We've also got a narrator trying to pass this off as an educational movie as he warns what can happen if you don't protect yourself during sex.

Holmes plays Johnny Wadd, who is on a case of a missing girl. The film basically takes place in one room as suspects to girl's friends and family enter in Wadd's beach pad asking him about the girl and having sex with him as a down payment for finding her. There's some outdoor shots like when he asks his informant Minnie the mooche about any abduction (in return for a fix), to a blazing battle sequence with Ramone narrone. (who is one of the greatest funny porn dude. Does anyone know what happen to him? Please tell me!). The film main theme is a theme from THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY (I wonder if they got permission to use it?). I can give away the ending, but Wadd really didn't have to do much detective work as all the clues and the missing girl walked into his home. Chin is a clever filmmaker, and it's too bad he never went mainstream. it's also too bad that according to the film BOOGIE NIGHTS, this film didn't exist for Holmes started his career in the late 70's, when this film was made way before than. Hollywood can re-write history, but us fans know the truth.

It's been quite a while since I've seen this film so it's not 100% fresh in my mind, however,I felt compelled to write something about it. My 9/10 is taking into account that this is an adult film and I'm rating it as such, so it's not on the same scale as The Godfather or Shawshank Redemption. I have been searching for awhile for another adult film like this one but have so far had no luck. I watched this with my wife when we had a quiet evening together and it has got to be the perfect film for an 'adult night in'. It has the feel of a mainstream film in quality and builds in intensity like a regular film should. We were drawn in to the story and the sex scenes were interspersed into the film so that it kept the momentum moving forward. Eventually the sex scenes became more hardcore and longer in duration until the ending which was a nice segue to move from the couch to the bedroom after the film was over. I enjoyed the fact that this wasn't a cheesy, comical or cliched adult film and actually kept us watching from the start to the very end of the film, just like a mainstream film, yet the sex scenes were actually hardcore like a good porn should be. Recommended for a proper adults only date night film!

Not too many fans of 70s adult films are fans of Kemal Horulu. True, his films tend not to pack the punch of those made the best directors of the period at issue, however, he made one adult film that is so well made that it can be seen as a paradigm for an engaging and stimulating adult film. LUSTFUL FEELINGS (aka FEELINGS) from 1977, features a compelling story, competent and stylish direction, an attractive, experienced cast, and a groovy soundtrack. It works on a dramatic level as well as being pretty erotic, and just a bit kinky... Unfortunately the widely available version cuts out most of the kink of course, as well as all allusions to cocaine which is a huge part of the story, rendering it more or less a series of sex scenes and bracketed by drama.

Here is a rarity - an X-rated production whose main point of interest is a middle-aged man who only appears to take his shirt off! He is writer, producer and co-star Ronan O'Casey, perhaps best known on this side of the pond for his regular appearances on the ITV fifties family comedy THE LARKINS and its big-screen spin-off INN FOR TROUBLE. It was not usual for a mainstream performer to be as openly involved in a porn production though several were surreptitiously. It was directed, albeit without much distinction, by Bob Gill, a renowned graphic designer whom had designed the Beatles first album cover for Apple records, and was filmed at a time when there was talk of porn crossovers, but this was about as close as it came.
O'Casey plays a New York lawyer, the latest discarded lover of the married treacherous, icy beauty Holly (the stunning Catherine Burgess). He decides to get even with a spot of blackmail and engages a gangster to covertly film and record Holly and her new lover at her hotel lovenest. A subplot involves the gangster's abused girlfriend (Terri Hall) and her drug problem.

Bob Chinn has cited this as the best film he ever directed and I concur. Right from the classic opening scene spotlighting print model Kitty Shayne (in undoubtedly her best feature role), TROPIC OF DESIRE is a porn film that actually plays like a real movie.
To be more precise it reminded me of the best of live TV back from the 1950s when John Frankenheimer, Arthur Penn and Sidney Lumet were in their pre-movie prime. Like those old kinescope classics, DESIRE is claustrophobic, set in a whorehouse near Honolulu in 1945 near the end of WW II, but has the hot-house intensity of those studio-bound acting showcases. And the acting is of high-quality, starting from madam played by Georgina Spelvin to her girls including Jesie St. James and Susan Nero.
