Porn constitutes an extremely large barrel: not even counting the myriad of current internet porn providers there must be nearly a million porn films, videos or compilations created over the past 40 years. Virgin Hostage belongs near the bottom of that barrel.
For quick-buck reasons, two competing video companies have reissued this junker, there being no royalty payments to be made (Suzanne Fields' family is entitled to a fortune, never paid out by these latter day exploiters of her celluloid legacy). They shouldn't have bothered.
It's a one-day wonder, carelessly shot and edited. Purpose is to give the adult theaters, circa Deep Throat, a wall-to-wall hour of sex. Problem is that it is 100% unerotic, insulting to the audience from start to finish. Probably served as a chaser: designed to get rid of the vagrants who were hard to pry from their seats -this one would have had me heading for the exit back in the day.

Trust adult's most accomplished "auteur", the late great "Anthony Spinelli" a/k/a Sam Weston (né Samuel Weinstein and brother of beloved comedian Jack), to point out the pitfalls in a hypothetical only-in-the-movies situation mainstream traditionally mines for laughs : two people from very different walks of life switching places willingly or otherwise. Call this a carnal cautionary tale if you will, pausing to reflect on the potential downside to an arrangement few if any among us are unlikely to encounter in real life. Historically, EXPECTATIONS slots nicely into the slew of modestly mounted chamber piece sex dramas, focused on a mere handful of expertly explored characters, Sam shot throughout the '70s. These saw him resorting to pseudonyms like "Leonard Burke" on THE FIRST TIME and CONFESSIONS OF A WOMAN or "Wes Brown" on the one two knockout sucker punch of PORTRAIT OF SEDUCTION and THE SEDUCTION OF LYN CARTER. Here, he's "Arvid Beller" and taking an apparently retrograde step although he had already hit the proverbial big time with the comparatively more lavish likes of EASY and SEX WORLD. The latter provided the genesis for this laudable little sleeper by the way, as the director had been so impressed with alluring amazon Cris Cassidy ("Suzette Holland" at the time) - briefly appearing as Annette Haven's leaving lover - that he rushed to come up with a star vehicle for the actress.

Mimi Morgan looks beautiful, but gives a fairly blank performance as the heroine, introduced in the middle of a sex scene opposite Blair Harris being shot for a movie. Gimmick is that it's her first scene of explicit sex for the cameras, yet she handles it with a pro's experience and technique. Film in flashback shows what led her to this point, and it's an unfortunately uninteresting story.
She lives with Joey Silvera, doing his typical hissable creep routine, as a goof-off who refuses to get a job. They have a romantic sex scene notable for her wearing cutout black panties during sex, rather than getting naked.
Her boring life with Joey is uneventful. They attend a party for swingers thrown by Jack Wright, a really clean-cut young man who makes one wonder how he ever ended up in porn. While Joey is typically making out to a bongo beat with a cute young girl, Mimi gets it on with Wright.

SADIE is director Bob Chinn's followup to his personal favorite film TROPIC OF DESIRE, which was a wonderful nostalgia piece about WW II. Unfortunately SADIE is lifeless, an instructive example of what can go wrong en route to a wrap.
This is the umpteenth version of Maugham's MISS SADIE THOMPSON and unfolds under Chinn's dead serious direction like a play shot for television. The actors are competent, line readings correct, and dramatic arc follows Maugham. However, there is no inspiration - star Chris Cassidy in the title role merely gets through her part (en route to the requisite XXX scenes), never expressing any real emotion.
The problem is simple - as any one who has attended acting classes or rehearsed a play knows, the director attempts to get the most from his actors, not just correct enunciation of lines but rather an understanding of character and text and some life into the performance. Chinn has gotten the bare minimum, understandable in the context of getting a low-budget film completed.

A lot of plot and little sex. That would be broadly the conclusion for Co-Ed Fever. It is not that I dislike the purely cinematographic application in adult cinema, especially if it is fun and contains some bright gag. The real problem is that if I had gone to a film room in the year 80 to see a crazy comedy, I would never have chosen this film, but rather a mainstream comedy of the time (there were lots). Co-Ed Fever is supposed to have fulfilled a ratio of acceptable pornographic scenes for the public that sought this gender in particular, but this really does not happen here. Perhaps there are five complete (I repeat: complete) explicit sex scenes (not counting the recurring final orgy), and the rest is pure plot, pure argument. Dialogues and more dialogues for a story that has its grace, of course, but that seems to forget its authentic essence.
I am aware that, on the one hand, that was the greatness of adult cinema in that golden age, and I will always be a defender of that type of plotted pornography, but I think that Gary Graver (a kind of Ernst Lubitsch of adult cinema) has sinned here by being pretentious. Even so, I recognize the great mastery of this director (Summer Camp Girls, Center Spread Girls, Amanda By Night, V: The Hot One and Indecent Exposure... among other greatnesses), and I fervently recommend viewing it without further prejudice or objections.

This unassuming little sleeper may be the finest contribution the late Chris Warfield (a/k/a "Billy Thornberg") made to the carnal canon. Like so many Golden Age filmmakers, he had his roots in '60s sexploitation cinema, producing Corey Allen's notorious EROTIC ADVENTURES OF PINOCCHIO. As a dirty movie director, he rarely showed much ambition beyond stringing together loops he had shot for the 8mm market – ah, those were the days ! – into makeshift "features" like FULFILMENT, BEYOND FULFILMENT (clever, huh ?) and SHEER PANTIES. With every rule, there are some exceptions though. The glossy, big budget rom com CHAMPAGNE FOR BREAKFAST with Lesllie Bovee and John Leslie was the one he clearly considered his Magnum Opus, signing with his real name in an industry known for (frequently stupid) pseudonyms. While shot on a much more modest scale, PURELY PHYSICAL proves to be its equal in every respect however, taking a hackneyed hardcore premise into a new and surprising direction. With the "couples film" trend gaining momentum at the time, Warfield takes his time setting up sexual situations, allowing the talented cast to flesh out their characters before panties drop to the floor. The excellent script by the director and his frequent partner in crime "Harold Perkins" (actually sexploitation vet John Hayes who made the XXX flicks HOT LUNCH and PLEASURE ZONES under his auspices) adds a pleasing touch of realism to the porn staple plot with some of the best dialog ever in erotica.

A lovely young French woman (ravishing brunette beauty Julia Perrin) comes to America seeking employment and to learn the English language better. She hooks up with a job agency that specializes in maid service. The woman winds up working for a colorful array of clients: A weird old guy who lives in a house full of cats, a bickering dysfunctional family, a flaky old general and his kooky clan, and a handsome and wealthy widowed scientist (legendary porn stud John Leslie).
Director Alan Vydra relates the eventful story at a brisk pace and maintains a pleasingly breezy tone throughout. The sizzling sex scenes run the gamut from scorching hot lesbianism to steamy straight copulation to a couple of highly arousing solo masturbation set pieces courtesy of the absolutely delectable Ms. Perrin. Better still, the women are all smoking hot all natural babes. Herschal Savage pops up for some tasty ménage a trois action. This picture further benefits from an amusing sense of merry bawdy humor while the horrendous dubbing provides plenty of unintentional belly laughs. The sumptuous cinematography offers several striking shots of the picturesque locations. The funky throbbing disco score hits the get-down groovy spot. A very sexy and enjoyable romp.

A French class in Paris is in league with a gang of white sex slave traders. This is handy, since most of the students are horny tourists anyway (so why force them?). Olinka and two supposedly American girls are arrested (though they never learn exactly what for) and thrown into the tiny Maison Darret Prison. Here they are stimulated to become even more sexually charged than they already were.
The new arrivals are immediately herded into the shower, normally the highlight in these pictures, but more like an afterthought here. Although she has a lazy boyfriend waiting for her outside, Olinka really enjoys the thorough examination given to her by the prison doctor. Apart from him there are only two guards and a female warden who constantly spy on and have their way with the inmates. The sex scenes are quite short but there sure are a lot of them. However, I would not call any of them erotic. The girls are being prepared to be sold to visiting sheiks by a mob boss called... wait for it... Don Corleone. The Don turns out to be overworked French porn star Alban, who strangely enough never gets any action.

As the late Sam Weston a/k/a "Anthony Spinelli" parted ways with producer "Jerry Ross" (actually 2 guys behind this pseudonym), who owned the rights to the title, he couldn't make an "official" sequel to their multi-award-winning adult blockbuster TALK DIRTY TO ME. Yet he still felt the need to give equal weight to the character of shy Lenny, indelibly portrayed by the underrated Richard Pacheco, as he had to that of swaggering womanizer Jack (the unparalleled John Leslie's signature performance). Hence NOTHING TO HIDE was born. Ironically, it is considerably closer in spirit to the much-lauded original than any of the certified sequels (remember the tiresome mermaid business in parts 3 & 4 ?), though Ross and Weston rejoined forces for TALK DIRTY TO ME ONE MORE TIME...and yes, there was a follow-up to that one as well ! To confound the issue even further, production company Cal Vista (now Metro) released parts 2, 3 & 4 in the NOTHING TO HIDE franchise, excellent movies in their own right but little to do with Weston's masterpiece.

Related only in title to the John Leslie-Richard Pacheco classic, "Justine" has nothing to hide in terms of quality -it's a winner start to finish. One of Paul Thomas's finest films, and it was indeed shot on film long after video's inroads, the romantic drama plays well as a real movie without sacrificing its highly erotic content. Roxanne Blaze, who IMDb calls by another name for no demonstrable reason, is terrific in the title role, as a woman who falls in love with both son and father, completely unknowingly. This of course gives the viewer the all-important information advantage over the characters, always a fun state, and leads eventually to conflict and heartbreak.
Interpersonal relationships are Thomas's forte, and what really makes "Justine" work, just as the indelible roles in Spinelli's original "Nothing to Hide" did, is fully developed characters, including supporting turns. Evidence of this is Tianna, a talented actress and performer who is both comic relief and deliverer of pathos, as an insecure, frustrated woman who attaches herself to hero's dad Mike Horner and is treated callously. In the Silent and Early Takies era this would be Zasu Pitts' role, and it is fascinating to see such a character adapted to XXX behavior, no mean feat for Thomas's regular scriptwriter Raven Touchstone.

Producer William Dancer and director Joanna Williams (according to late genre critic Jim Holliday a former soft-core starlet who was in Ron Garcia's mind-boggling TOY BOX) followed their hugely popular LITTLE GIRLS BLUE with this piece of fluff, regurgitating most of that instant classic's female cast (Samantha Morgan, Lori Blue, Chrissy Petersen) supplemented with early performances by some of the industry's biggest stars, albeit in semi-anonymous orgy action. Perhaps the pair needed to clear their heads after the previous year's harrowing rape 'n' revenge saga EXPENSIVE TASTES as they seem quite content this time around to settle for a fast-paced, freewheeling farce completely lacking in substance whatsoever. Though less than memorable, the resulting fare remains highly enjoyable on its own empty-headed terms.

Producer William Dancer and director Joanna Williams followed their ultimate schoolgirl spectacular LITTLE GIRLS BLUE with this entirely different rape 'n' revenge drama that's most definitely not for the faint of heart.
Sweet virginal Alex (adorable Chrissy Petersen, a Dancer regular not only in LITTLE GIRLS and its belated 1983 sequel but CHOPSTIX as well) is all excited about her first date with a charming ladies man (Joey Silvera) she met cute at a diner where he accidentally knocked her salad into her lap ! Her maternal landlady (Fran Essex) warns her to be on her guard as small town girls like her are easy prey for Big Apple Don Juans. Her misgivings prove only too justified when the couple is accosted at Joey's apartment by a trio of masked thugs who have their wicked way with them. Tied-up Silvera even has to "suffer" the indignity of being orally pleasured by one of the bad "guys", the one in the baggy clothes who doesn't say a word, soon to be revealed in not much of a surprise "twist" as the far from masculine Eileen Welles, probably best remembered as the recipient of Nancy Hoffman's double-fisted attack in Bob Chinn's doctors 'n' nurses classic CANDY STRIPERS. A rather less expected turn of events is that Joey's actually in cahoots with the loathsome trio (including, in addition to Welles, a very verbally abusive John Leslie and heavy hung Ken Scudder, the latter attempting characterization through an annoyingly maniacal giggle) who, it turns out, have made a recurring weekly event out of this kind of sick set-up.

After expanding their erotic exploits to epic proportions with SODOM AND GOMORRAH, the Mitchell Brothers continued their bid for mainstream acceptance with this lavishly mounted (no pun intended) adaptation of the notorious Victorian novella, like so many of its ilk published anonymously as the 19th century drew to a close. As its literary source dealt with the sexual and moral corruption of a previously pious 14-year old girl, and not wanting to be considered dirty old men (an in-built risk of their chosen profession as pornographers), the Mitchells had the good sense to leave directorial chores to Sharon McNight. A talented Tony Award-nominated torch singer, as her rendition of the cryptic titular standard previously warbled by the likes of Frankie Vaughan, Bill Haley and Crystal Gayle in BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR : THE SEQUEL amply proves, she was a former girlfriend of Jim's who remained a close companion up until his recent death. This female presence at the helm, extremely rare at the time with former sexploitation sirens Ann Perry and "Joanna Williams" the only women dirty movie directors of note, effectively removed the sting of scandal from its subject matter.

Universally acclaimed as the late great fornication filmmaker Sam Weston's crowning achievement, TALK DIRTY TO ME ranks in my personal top 5 for the director, forever vying for top spot according to my mood at any given time with the likes of SEX WORLD, NOTHING TO HIDE, EASY and THE DANCERS. Unusually taking a male buddy relationship, clearly patterned after John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men (sans tragic denouement), as its focal point, TALK inspired a ton of sequels as well as spin-offs. Producer Jerry Ross owned the rights to the title and therefore instigated the official series, the subsequent installment of which was crafted by the original's editor Tim McDonald. Weston delivered his own follow-up with the possibly even superior (in terms of story-telling if not sexually) NOTHING TO HIDE giving full weight to the character of the slightly retarded sidekick Lenny, indelibly portrayed by the terrific Richard Pacheco. Weston returned to the fold, as it were, rather late in the day when he re-teamed with Ross for the shot on video TALK DIRTY TO ME ONE MORE TIME and its sequel !

Betty (Angel) and Catherine (Ginger Lynn) are Catholic school girls who couldn't be more opposite. Catherine is a sexually active wild child who takes the overly shy Betty out to show her what she's missing. Before long Betty starts to get passed around and experiencing the art of sex.
TOO NAUGHTY TO SAY NO is a pretty strong and entertaining adult film that manages to take stars from the 70s and 80s and throw them into an all around fun movie. There's no question that this here is sort of a "greatest hits" of stars as we get current people like Angel, Lynn and Lisa De Leeuw but then you've got throwbacks like Jamie Gillis, Harry Reems, Eric Edwards and various others.
There are some extremely good scenes here including the opening sex scene where Gillis is on the bed with Lynn while talking dirty to Angel who is watching them. This was an extremely erotic sequence and certainly the highlight of the picture. The film moves along at a nice pace and the story itself might not be anything too original but it's at least done in a fun manor. The cast is certainly great and makes the film worth viewing.
