Cameraman-director Jack Remy had a spine of a storyline in "Doctor Desire" but wisely let his cast improvise in a set of loosely linked vignettes set at a psychiatric asylum for women with sexual problems.
Workmen Steve Drake and Billy Dee have a field day humping the patients, and Dee is terrific in his on-set reactions to what's going on, straying from any script. The place is run by Dr. Latenight, a shrink drolly played by R. Bolla, who humps his patient Heather Wayne. It becomes clear why Wayne was granted star billing and cover girl status on the DVD reissue above superstar forever Christy Canyon, as the jail-bait nymphette is terrific in two sex scenes.

Three sailors on leave and a trio of vacationing telephone operators find themselves at an odd remote club in San Francisco that specializes in making bizarre sexual fantasies come true. Writers/directors Bob Chinn and Jeffrey Fairbanks do a masterful job of crafting a heady and mysterious erotic atmosphere with a rather dark vibe brooding just underneath the seemingly perfect surface. Indeed, the deliriously intoxicating and somewhat alarming sensual mood gives this arrestingly peculiar outing an extra potent and arousing charge as everyone in the club has their deepest carnal desires indulged. The actors who play the sailors all do sound work: Jon Martin as the swaggering Cal, Jesse Adams as the scruffy Sloan, and Michael Morrison as boastful drawling hick Frank. The ladies who portray the telephone operators are all likewise solid and sexy: Laurien Dominique as the uptight Chrissie, Jessie St. James as the bubbly Nancy, and Sharon Kane as brash know-it-all Ellen. However, it's James Price who easily steals the show with his deliciously creepy portrayal of sinister emcee Nigel.

Styled as a takeoff on the then-popular TV series "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman", Bob Chinn's HARD SOAP, HARD SOAP is a well-written and extremely well acted porn comedy from the Golden Age. It features Chinn's amanuensis John C. Holmes, but is much more professional an effort than their much-ridiculed "Johnny Wadd" films. In casting a little too close to the bone Holmes plays Dr. Holmes, a shrink who has his own problem, he can't achieve an erection, much to the consternation of his beautiful wife Laurien Dominique. The fact that the real Holmes never could get an erection, but managed to coast through hundreds of porn films by virtue of the length of his semi-flaccid organ, is cheated by the predictable finale that pretends his problem is solved. I'm surprised the ill-fated star laid his problem on the table so baldly, so to speak.

Along with the untouchable Radley Metzger a/k/a "Henry Paris", the late Chuck Vincent may be the only pornographer whose carnal comedies can be accurately described as witty. While fellow fornication filmmakers frequently dealt in knockabout slapstick and gross-out toilet humor to score laughter, Vincent responded with rib-tickling sophistication apparently influenced by '50s Doris Day/Rock Hudson tandems, which he – as a gay man – would have predictably cherished. Even though the "real world" chooses to emphasize crossover adult dramas ROOMMATES and IN LOVE as his most important cinematic contributions, presumably because they came closest to mainstream in both style and content, comedy has always been Vincent's stock in trade. For my money, MISBEHAVIN' rates second only to the original JACK 'N' JILL in a line-up of Chuck's finest farces. So funny is it, in fact, that hardcore content tends to be somewhat eclipsed, lending credence to the common criticism that his movies are a tad soft on sex for the seasoned sleaze hound.

Directed by the great Henri Pachard (AKA Ron Sullivan), the story delves into the world of crime and desire, focusing on a daring plan to steal valuable jewels from the “Fairchild” collection. The plot follows Mrs. Leautrec (played sublimely by Juliet Anderson at the height of her career), a sophisticated and enigmatic lady who devises an elaborate plot to seize a coveted set of diamonds. To carry out her objective, Leautrec is always accompanied by her charming and impulsive son (played by a strangely attractive Ron Jeremy). As the plan is put into motion, the pair face a series of dangerous situations and unexpected encounters. The greed and sexual tension that arise between the characters as they try to execute the perfect heist offer unexpected and hilarious twists that complicate all their ambitions.

After being diagnosed by a smarmy doctor (a memorably sleazy cameo by director Carlos Tobalina) with a dose of the clap, a frustrated wife (ravishing redhead Colleen Brennan in peak vivacious and desirable form) decides to dump her unfaithful jerk husband (a nicely slimy turn by Shone Taylor) and play the field by not only taking on a lover, but also by attending a ladies only sex party.
Director Tobalina keeps the simple and straightforward story moving along at a steady clip, offers some nice travelogue footage of sunny San Francisco, and delivers copious amounts of the expected strenuous carnal action. Karen Leslie, Margie Hills, Julie Desmond, Lili Marlene, and Laura Lazare all show up for a sizzling Sapphic session. Best of all, the always delectable Mrs. Brennan gives her energetic all in her scorching sex scenes and has a ball with her raunchy narration

Tanya Towns (Colleen Brennan, who seems to be the only compelling element in the entire film, and whose role is woefully underutilized) plays the neglected wife of Gregory Towns (an overacting Harry Reems, who delivers far too much slapstick and absurd dialogue). Both members of this seemingly failed marriage struggle with their sexuality separately.
The plot is boring and suffers from a lack of narrative rhythm, generating endless filler scenes to the detriment of a script that could have been better crafted, as the great Gary Graver already had done with projects like "V, The Hot One" (1978), "Co-Ed Fever" (1980), "Amanda By Night" (1981), or one of his masterpieces, "Indecent Exposure" from 1982. Therefore, the creative collapse and exhaustion of this director at the end of the Golden Age of adult cinema is all too evident.
In reality, what Mr. Towns is trying to do in "Beverly Hills Exposed" is to strike a sweet deal with one of his wealthiest clients, a certain Jonathon Stinson (Billy Dee), who comes to visit Gregory's mansion to be sexually entertained, even by the host's own daughter.
In any case, we mustn't forget that this is a film by Gary Graver (AKA Robert McCallum), and his cinematic talent is beyond question, assuming that even a minor film by this filmmaker is far superior to most of the works released during his golden age. Cinephiles will perhaps notice many nods to classic cinema throughout his work, especially to the films of Orson Welles. Graver was Welles's go-to cinematographer during the final stages of his independent filmmaking career. That's a lot to say.

Initially conceived as yet another erotic project by filmmaker Jean Garret, this is, in fact, the director's first sexually explicit film, and the only one he directed without a pseudonym. Without a doubt, the film conveys the feeling of being a project necessarily adapted to the explicit demands of the audiences of the time. The Golden Age of adult cinema was coming to an end, but small gems were still appearing on the American continent. "Gôzo Alucinante" is one of them, an incredibly developed film for the genre in question, and with a not inconsiderable production investment. Its plot is circumscribed by quintessential erotica, and explores surprisingly entertaining themes and fantasies for a basically pornographic film. The final plot twist, although quite obvious, must have surprised many at the time.

The air of sadness and seclusion that permeates A COMING OF ANGELS is furthered by shooting much of the film's footage in the desolate wintry landscapes of upstate New York and the presence of a comparatively compact eight person cast, each of them a bona fide legend or cult favorite which lead to late great porn historian Jim Holliday dubbing the movie "Superstar City" in his seminal 1986 tome Only the Best. This was an apparently one time only directorial outing for Joel Scott, whose single other (verifiable) credit was as producer of the also not quite mainstream SOMETIME SWEET SUSAN. Taken together, both films show a willingness to break away from fornication film formula in both form and content.

If the credits are to be believed, "Prisoner of Paradise" it was co-directed by former Playboy Playmate Gail Palmer and the ever-reliable Bob Chinn, godfather of the long-running Johnny Wadd series. In truth, Palmer's centerfold notoriety was rarely more than a marketing gimmick; his "creative input" was largely, as one Hustler critic admitted several years ago, limited to trading physical favors for good reviews.
In a bizarre prequel of sorts to his already established incarnation as super-sleuth Johnny Wadd, the late John Holmes plays U.S. Marine Joe Murray, stranded on a seemingly deserted island—actually, Hawaii—following an aerial bombing raid (footage taken from "Tora! Tora! Tora!", 1970) with only the memory of his lost love, the prostitute Mai Lin, for company. Unbeknownst to them, deranged Nazi Colonel Hans Von Schlemel (Elmer Fox, known as "Hans Mueller") has set up camp with two tough companions, Ilsa (superstar Seka) and Greta (Sue Carol), for the sole purpose of extracting strategic information.

Producer Harold Lime (THE ECSTASY GIRLS) and director "Ramsey Karson" a/k/a Richard Kanter (who made the sexploitation favorite THE RIBALD TALES OF ROBIN HOOD) followed up their brilliant DESIRES WITHIN YOUNG GIRLS with this disappointingly ordinary offering that'll be of interest mainly to longtime genre fans because of its Golden Age superstar cast.
The premise is that old adult movie stand-by : the object that awakens its owner's dormant sex drive, in this case a gold pendant crafted by pagan druids ! Following a brief solo stint by then current Penthouse Pet of the Month Mariwen Roberts, the trinket's first owner is spoiled party girl Dee Dee (the vastly underrated Lesllie Bovee who would partner as well as match huge John Holmes in that same year's ERUPTION) who doesn't quite remember how the jewel came into her possession except that it somehow wound up in her purse after a booze-soaked night on the town.
