Arguably the best of the "Wes Brown" movies, a pseudonym employed by the late great Sam Weston - a/k/a "Anthony Spinelli" - during the first half of the '70s, SEDUCTION OF LYN CARTER provides a chamber piece setting with a small group of characters and a limited number of locations he would return to when shooting on video over a decade later. While the reasons therefore were on one hand undeniably economic, its pared down structure simultaneously offered him the opportunity to explore people's nature and motives regarding their sexual needs with an entomologist's eye for psychological detail. His findings weren't always pretty as this movie and its equally scorching companion piece PORTRAIT OF SEDUCTION illustrate.

Yet another Euro film based on the memoirs of goodtime gal Josephine Mutzenbacher (aside from several softcore, there were also the XXX SENSATIONAL JANINE and PROFESSIONAL JANINE). All credits are pseudonymous in the US video version. Several of the plot incidents are also found in PROFESSIONAL JANINE. Among the familiar set pieces are the party at the tavern, including the orchestra, and the missing watch scene.
Josephine, a somewhat hard-looking redhead in her late 20s (Jane Iwanoff), shacked up with a businessman in the city, gets a visit from her country cousin Veronica, whom she initiates into the trade (though I'd say, watching Veronica in action, that she's been there before). After Jo's b.f. catches them partying, the girls have to make their own way, eventually seducing an *old* guy they meet at a brothel into financing a whorehouse of their own.

With the likes of Ron Sullivan, Gerard Damiano and Buck Adams passing away, the year 2008 has turned out to be a dark one for dirty movie directorial talent, each of them having hit their stride during a different decade. Damiano's achievements peaked in the '70s with DEVIL IN MISS JONES and THE STORY OF JOANNA ; Adams illuminated the lackluster '90s with his naughty noir sagas LETHAL PASSION and NO MOTIVE. Though he consistently toiled throughout these decades as well, and indeed started out in '60s sexploitation, Sullivan's star shone most brightly throughout the '80s when he seemingly cranked out one instant classic right after another. Therefore, facing self-inflicted competition from SEXCAPADES, NIGHT HUNGER and TABOO American STYLE to name but a few, it should come as no small praise that OUTLAW LADIES has been singled out more frequently by "those in the know" as his best overall accomplishment. Deceptively simple in set-up, similar to other vignette-structured Sullivan sagas like BABYLON PINK and October SILK, this one reveals subtle touches in its story-telling and a devoted deviant's single-mindedness in erotic execution that elevate the results to adult's upper echelons.

This movie gets no respect. Though it cleaned up at the 1984 AFAA (Adult Film Association of America) Awards, it was widely held accountable for the founding of the XRCO (X-Rated Critics Organization). This splinter group consisted of disgruntled porno reviewers (led by the likes of the late Jim Holliday) no longer in agreement with the AFAA's decisions which they felt lost track of the genre's true reason for being (i.e. pulse-pounding eroticism) by grovelling for mainstream acceptance with prizes bestowed upon movies that were well made in terms of plot, acting and cinematography but contained little or no hot sex. An early directorial effort (after 1980's BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN and to be followed by the massively hyped TEN LITTLE MAIDENS and the unjustly overlooked MISSING PIECES) by longtime performer John Seeman (who had played the sympathetic chauffeur in Richard Kanter's landmark DESIRES WITHIN YOUNG GIRLS), VIRGINIA deserves to be remembered for reasons extending well beyond the XRCO's instigation.

With $500 an orgasm at stake he takes matters into his own hands with a half dozen different women, including the wife of course, to fulfill his clients wishes.
Because of the theme of the movie, the sounds are very authentic making the scenes more memorable. This movie also appears to have been filmed before all sense of style and plot went away in the adult film industry. It is interesting that according to the date of release Crystal Breeze would have been 16 during filming, but she sure doesn't look it. She is also credited as Mindy Cole on the Excalibur release.

A very successful porn director (DEBBIE DOES DALLAS), Jim Buckley is relatively unsung, probably because he was not prolific and seemed to be a 1-note artist specializing in the underage-looking girls genre. THE GOOD GIRLS OF GODIVA HIGH is an arousing example of this type of film, and holds up pretty well 30 years hence. It combines craftsmanship with sloppiness, and while hardly classic cinema (of any sort), delivers the goods. Premise through much of the film is the young school girls planning to stage a disco graduation party, meeting with resistance from their headmistress Miss Lena (Susan De Angelis, the best-looking actress in the movie). Running a relatively long 85 minutes, film nonetheless abandons or merely forgets about this premise, so that after endless bickering, cajoling and plotting, the party never happens and is never even mentioned in the final reel.

Probably the most widely HEARD adult film of all time, BODY LOVE has been known primarily as a best-selling soundtrack album (to a movie few confessed seeing) by ex-Tangerine Dream electronics whiz Klaus Schulze.
An Italian born in French Algeria, Alberto Ferro traveled to Scandinavia in the late '60s to benefit from relaxing censorship laws by producing pornography under the Nordic pseudonym of "Lasse Braun", working from France, Germany, Holland, Italy and even the ridiculously restricted England.
Braun employs his bare bones narrative as yet another forum for spouting his often questionable philosophies on free love and the benefits of pornography in long-winded diatribes. These are handled with surprising aplomb in the original French version, at least by a cast equally at ease with emoting as ejaculating.

To overcome the high cost of living in New York, three very different women, albeit well-adjusted in their distinct careers, decide to move in together. Billie (Samantha Fox, in one of the best performances of her career) is a rising advertising executive with a past in high-class prostitution, the consequences of which continue to cross her path. Because Billie is coerced by her former pimp to return to her old job, she ends up running into her own boyfriend at a bachelor party, which adds insult to injury, as she had no idea he was engaged.
Chuck Vincent's latest hit swept the AFAA (Adult Film Association of America) awards the year it was released, while planting the seeds for what would later become organizations like XRCO (X-Rated Film Critics Organization) and FOXE (Fans of X-Rated Entertainment). While "Roommates" more than fulfills, in every aspect, the paradigm of good filmmaking (script, acting, production values, etc.), it practically overlooks the one aspect that separates adult films from mainstream ones. Sure, there's a lot of sex involved, but very little of it is actually erotic. It was even labeled almost as misogynistic, as its three female leads went through a rough patch only to prove how strong and brave they were. As a curiosity, Veronica Hart publicly stated that her sex scene with Jerry Butler was the only time in her career that she felt she was really making love.

To escape her insistent friend Liz, the atractive Pandora (a hauntingly beautiful and enigmatic Veronica Hart) runs into an antique shop where she stumbles upon a magnificent full-length mirror that immediately captures her attention. Although the elderly shop owner tells her the mirror is "useless" and not even for sale, Pandora is strongly drawn to it and is compelled to return and gaze into it again and again as, magically, the story of the piece and its enchanting past are revealed through various fragments from different eras. Initially, the mirror was a gift from a prominent nobleman to his young wife, which he crafted himself, adding a frame carved from an oak tree struck by lightning. Many decades later, in the 1920s, the mirror passed into the hands of a renowned actress, famous not so much for her acting as for her affairs with much younger men. The next period in which the mirror plays a central role is the 1980s, when an aspiring stage actress undergoes a highly perverse casting process at the express request of her producer, the renowned Barbara Mellon.
One of Shaun Costello's greatest works also stands as one of the most complex and fantastical adult films ever made, achieving sustained intrigue from the very first frames thanks to a deliberately slow pace and exceptionally beautiful cinematography, along with Costello's well-known musical selection (Bernard Herrmann's album "Vertigo"; two tracks by Mike Oldfield; as well as selections by Pino Donaggio [the one from De Palma's "Carrie"; and the traditional "Woman of Ireland," popularized by Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon," also used in this film]). To this day, it remains one of the finest works to emerge from the Golden Age of the genre. Costello took great care with every aspect of the production, and film scholars should pay special attention to the exquisite compositions and the unusual sophistication behind the cameras.

The promise of being able to experience any fantasy and create any imaginable sexual scenario attracts a diverse group of characters whose stories unfold from the monotony of their everyday lives and are revealed through various flashbacks as the bus takes them to SexWorld, a hedonistic world of euphoria or, who knows, disillusionment. The luxury resort has been advertised in newspapers and fashion magazines as the ideal destination for a sex-themed getaway, and after the guests arrive, having agreed to a set of rules, it becomes clear that much more than a weekend of unbridled pleasure awaits them.
Kay Parker's first sex scene in an adult film appears in this movie, a true classic that seems to have everything going for it. The screenplay, based on Michael Crichton's novel "Westworld," is composed of interwoven stories involving a wide array of characters with exceptional performances, and is realistic and rich in incisive observations. The quality of Anthony Spinelli's production is on par with the great productions of the era, and the editing, in particular, with its ingeniously juxtaposed and composed images, might well be the best ever seen in adult cinema.

This great masterpiece by brothers John and Lem Amero chronicles the rise to fame and fortune of the Kane sisters, from one of the worst vaudeville acts ever seen before a drunken audience in a seedy bar in Coyote Fang, Wyoming, to becoming Broadway celebrities.
Still in Wyoming, and once the daily performances are over—performances that preclude any encores related to audience enthusiasm—Sugar (British softcore actress Suzy Mandel, who uses body doubles for the penetration scenes, although thankfully she has no qualms about performing fellatio) runs to the barn, which also serves as the sisters' dressing room, to have fun with her cowboy boyfriend, the clumsy and insecure Luke, while the sensible Candy (Dory Devon, actually a New York theater actress who would use a pseudonym for her hardcore projects) desperately tries to find a way out of this messed-up situation.
Possibly the funniest porn comedy ever made, after Radley Metzger's "The Opening of Misty Beethoven," and that's despite the fact that most of the sex isn't really the deciding factor in the film's greatness (at least not strictly speaking), as it doesn't seem to have been conceived for that purpose.
"Blonde Ambition" was the magnum opus of the Amero brothers, two gay brothers whose film career traces back to the sex exploitation films of the 1960s, before venturing into hardcore cinema with the avant-garde oddity of the 1970s, "Bacchanale." However, nothing could have prepared the predominantly heterosexual adult audience for "Blonde Ambition," a brazenly parody of "queer" concept and classic Hollywood musicals, with big musical numbers (well, as big as its $30,000 budget allowed), interspersed with intimate interludes that left little to the imagination. A sensational work.

Quite possibly the most laugh out loud porn comedy ever made, running a close second to Radley Metzger's THE OPENING OF MISTY BEETHOVEN and this only because most of the sex isn't particularly stimulating (at least not in the, ahem, "traditional" sense as that aspect too provides ample fodder for your funny bone) nor was intended that way. It was the crowning achievement for the New England bred Amero brothers, two gay siblings whose cinematic credentials stretch all the way back to '60s sexploitation (BODY OF A FEMALE, THE LUSTING HOURS) before branching out into their own unique brand of hardcore with 1970's avant-garde oddity BACCHANALE and the flamboyantly funny DYNAMITE and EVERY INCH A LADY, both of which already extensively showcased their queer sensibilities. Still, nothing could prepare predominantly straight adult audiences for BLONDE AMBITION, a brazenly poof spoof of classic Hollywood musicals with big production numbers (well, as big as its reportedly $30,000 budget would allow anyway) alternating with intimate interludes that left little to the imagination.

This was Bob Cresse' s first hardcore roughie shot in San Francisco. At that time the adult biz was not fighting the law against shooting adult films that had real sex acts in it in Los Angeles. While the other thing watches ,played by George Malo. Leslie searches to find the kidnappers ,but, not before he relaxes with a kidnapped women's sister played by Veronica Tay. Tanya Shea plays John Leslie's sister ,whom eventually kidnapped drugged and raped by blonde ,Enif Von Berdorf, to try to influence his sister to stab him.
