If cringe were a hobby, "69" would've been that it thing that can be found in the confines of SM Megamall Mega Trade Hall or Bayanihan Center in Pioneer. It happens with the obvious disconnect between the actors and their respective characters. It feels like a long-running gag without the need for punchlines or whatnot. But I do get the film's experimentation. The need to find flexible actors in every VMX genre possible. An investment in training and giving experience to talents. I guess it's their version of My Fair Lady-ing it - but make it softporn. And about the film? Well, the title's lack of imagination encompasses the entirety of the medium.

Well, it's a Southeast Asian erotic film. And to top it all off, it's a modern one. We can't ask for much, not even the sinful daring of Asian classics in the midst of their Golden Age. And, of course, we can't ask for vaginas, penises, or genitals in general. Just pubes and lots of breasts. And, above all, an acceptably dirty and exciting context.

An episodic movie consisting of several erotic short films presented by Tinto Brass himself. Brass is a pervert, but he is a joyous, wholesome, and life-affirming pervert. Every episode ends happily, and every couple comes out stronger after exploring their desires. It´s simply an uplifting celebration of sex and beauty. “P.O. Box Tinto Brass” is pleasant to look at, horny, titillating, cheeky, and occasionally funny and that´s all I want from a Tinto Brass film. Why would I give a movie a bad rating, if it does exactly what it sets out to do, even if it´s just soft porn?

What supposedly goes on 'behind convent walls' is the subject matter of pretty much every nunsploitation film ever made, and this film is director Walerian Borowczyk's take on the theme. Given that he previously directed LA BÊTE (1975); I have to say that I was expecting something a little stranger from the director, and while the film does have some quirks not seen in other nunsploitation efforts; it has to be said that it's pretty much a textbook entry and that is really the most disappointing thing about it. As ever, its sex, Satanism and general sinning that is the order of the day; although the film does not really follow a set narrative. The film is apparently based on a novel by someone called 'Stendhal' and focuses on a convent, where most of the nuns are beautiful and like to do everything except what nuns are supposed to do (despite having seen so many films about nuns, I actually don't know what that is!). Basically, what we get is the leaders of the convent trying to instill proper values in the nuns, while the nuns ignore them.

The film is bad, very bad. I won't be the one to dismantle the universal myth that elevated Ed Wood Jr. to "the worst film director in history." However, and precisely for this reason, perhaps we could leave a place in our videographic hearts for one of the last films directed by this prolific and delightfully indolent character, who is already part of an indelible legend.
Here, the plot (if it can even be called so) follows Margaret (played by the wonderful and voluptuous Uschi Digard), a young woman who finds herself in serious trouble, and who desperately flees from the authorities, seeking refuge in a lonely and isolated mansion in the middle of nowhere. However, what initially seems like a safe hiding place soon becomes an even more dangerous place.
The film is set in the final stage of the filmmaker's career, showing an evolution toward erotic cinema with a clear focus on sexual exploitation, with elements of crime drama. The film offers only erratic and anarchic orgies and gives Uschi Digard as the backbone of the narrative. And, of course, showcases Wood's Jr. typical stylistic virtues at their best: none.
