Producer Harold Lime (THE ECSTASY GIRLS) and director "Ramsey Karson" a/k/a Richard Kanter (who made the sexploitation favorite THE RIBALD TALES OF ROBIN HOOD) followed up their brilliant DESIRES WITHIN YOUNG GIRLS with this disappointingly ordinary offering that'll be of interest mainly to longtime genre fans because of its Golden Age superstar cast.
The premise is that old adult movie stand-by : the object that awakens its owner's dormant sex drive, in this case a gold pendant crafted by pagan druids ! Following a brief solo stint by then current Penthouse Pet of the Month Mariwen Roberts, the trinket's first owner is spoiled party girl Dee Dee (the vastly underrated Lesllie Bovee who would partner as well as match huge John Holmes in that same year's ERUPTION) who doesn't quite remember how the jewel came into her possession except that it somehow wound up in her purse after a booze-soaked night on the town.

One of the late Chuck Vincent's most acclaimed efforts, this is aimed directly at the easily impressed as glossy production values completely overwhelm the brief to the point of perfunctory sex scenes. Never keen to rain on anyone's parade, as well as a fan and past defendant of the director, I have deliberately refrained from reviewing this film until I had the opportunity to see it at least once more, hoping to change my mind and realize that I had been way too harsh in my assessment.
Hauling cast and crew all over the US as well as various European countries like France, Italy and Germany, though traveling in coach as DoP Larry Revene has confirmed (remember, we're talking Hollywood's deformed kid brother here), Vincent displayed a level of expenditure the adult industry had not yet borne witness to. To keep costs under control, he simultaneously shot a second feature using much the same people and locations, the wholly unpretentious and - perhaps as a result - considerably more enjoyable THAT LUCKY STIFF.

As America was preparing to celebrate its Bicentennial in 1976, the ever helpful adult industry chipped in with two major films for the occasion. In another life, he was one of the most talented yet ironically unsung directors of dirty movies best known for his '80s Marilyn Chambers classics INSATIABLE and UP 'N' COMING.

With excellent soap opera acting by the cast we're introduced to hero John Leslie, humping wife Tina Marie as Lisa, and we get to see the voluptuous '80s star shot on film for a change, a rarity since her career unfolded in the horrible video era.
A weird scene, unlikely to pass muster today, has Honey masturbating with a Joe Sarno sized vibrator when two girl scouts arrive at her door, played in unlikely fashion by Sharon Kane and Tigr (back again). The cookie sales-folk are initiated into lesbian sex by Honey and then John Leslie arrives (bringing with him familiar baggage from his loops career as a friendly neighborhood daddy figure).

Definitely belongs in the grind-house "roughie" series. A film of gritty, violence and rough sex. No romance for sure. Ron Jeremy proves he can act well. The violence is limited, but the sex scenes in most cases are pretty rough, especially the final sequence. The surprise for me, was Dixie Dew, her scene with Ron was pretty good, a bit raunchy. Not much is known about Dixie Dew, she has appeared in only about 5 films, in small roles. Don't know what happened to her. But, so many women come and go in the porn world never to be seen again. I wish there was more of her, but alas, it is not to be. All in all, "The Story of Prunella" is a classic of the genre. A bit short, barely 60 minutes, but still a joy to watch for fans of Ron Jeremy and the grind-house genre.

"Bienenstich im Liebesnest" (“Bee Sting in the Love's Nest”, literally translated) is one of the quintessential classics by the great German director Hans Billian (well known for being the precursor of the “Josefine Mutzenbacher” collection), who, with this special video title, offers one of the most spicy or explicit versions of the same script (there is also a softer version titled "Das Gasthaus Zum Scharfen Hirsch," which I haven't seen, and whose length is similar). One of the characteristics of this more pornographic version is the near absence of fornication scenes, where blowjobs and masturbation with their respective ejaculations (facial or not) dominate, but where we hardly ever see male members entering Nordic vaginas (although there are some, I swear). This allows Billian to add many more explicit sex scenes to the film, since they are frankly short.

The master of sex-exploitation cinema, Erwin C. Dietrich, co-directed this film about women in prison who organize a baseball game against the guards. The inmates decide to use their sexuality to try and earn extra money. How crazy! Who would have imagined it?
Indeed, there's nothing groundbreaking here, although there is plenty of sex and fun. Ann Perry-Rhine also directed the film, but we'll never know which of the two co-directors had more influence. What is certain is that this is the original hardcore version FROM WICH A 76-MINUTE SOFTCORE PORN CUT was extracted for the German network Starz, titled "6 Schwedinnen hinter Gittern" (something like "Six Swedish Women Behind Bars"). In any case, if you consult your doctor, he'll strongly recommend this authentically American version.
