Dr. Lodge is a successful sex therapist who runs a support group for incestuous individuals. His patients include Joyce and Barbara (the magnificent Honey Wilder and Kay Parker, respectively), who we already know have "fooled around" with their own sons. The good doctor must also deal with his own dysfunction. He is a very strict father who has sent his two daughters to boarding school, the eldest of whom (Naomi, a sexy Karen Summer) is caught fornicating in her bedroom. After being expelled from the center, the two sisters return home to discover that their mother (the super-sexy Cyndee Summers) is having an affair with her husband's brother, Billy, and the doctor has kicked her out of home.
The fourth episode of this long-running series does so with a surprising amount of gravitas. Ginger Lynn shines spectacularly as the younger of the two sisters (the other is the even more impressive Karen Summer, always an underrated commodity in genre films) whose family life is shaken when Mom Cyndee Summers, a veteran of the early 1970s, embarks on an affair with John Leslie, the brother of Jamie Gillis, her husband. "Taboo IV" features sensational production values, with a script by Helene Terrie that's meticulously crafted. That's why this is perhaps one of the best adult films of the 1980s, which means it's actually one of the best in the genre.

If you were making a movie that catered to the mature woman/younger man fantasy, you could go through the whole array of performers who have appeared in feature-length adult videos and not find anyone better to cast than the fabulous Kay Parker and a youthful Tom Byron. Luckily for us somebody did the right and logical thing here.
Tom's aunt is Honey Wilder, another "mature" wonder. (In porno terms that means over 30.) She's concerned about the way her nephew is behaving, locking himself in his room and not coming out. That's because he's spying on some neighbors across the way, two stewardesses who unwind on layovers by engaging in wild sex play. They are played by Joanna Storm and Laurie Smith, another piece of inspired (and logical) casting. An eager Paul Thomas will go along with whatever they want, including wearing a bunny suit! This does come off before any sex scene begins, be assured.

The plot is well thought out with Simone and Gina (Brigitte Lahaie and Lidie Ferdics) the two put-upon maids who plan to get their revenge by matching up the son, Luca with his cousin Fanny but as this is a porn film then there is more than just this. For those who like close-ups of female genitalia, then they should be satisfied but there are missed opportunities for more erotic scenes between Luca and Martha, the older woman, surely every schoolboy's fantasy. The film benefits by being shot in beautiful locales which all add to the film's attraction. The tennis court area has since been redeveloped into a tourist establishment. I still think that a little less porn and a bit more erotica would have really been the icing on the cake.

Shaun's film has a very interesting structure in addition to the teasing use of Murray. First, Leslie's beautiful still photo dominates the credits sequence, yet she does not appear for so many reels in the film proper and is not a main character. Instead, we have a NYC-based cover story of doctors led by Jamie Gillis working with seriously mentally ill Alice Randall (blonde Colleen Anderson in the film's title roles), married to very sympathetic and concerned husband Martin Randall (Costello, in one of his rare sincere performances, never tongue-in-cheek for a change).
Through flashbacks and under the influence of sodium pentathol injections, we discover that French-Canadian orphan Alice had a Siamese twin Eva from whom she was separated who is incarcerated at Harienwood Asylum in Quebec. The tortures sis experiences at the hands of some very creepy staff there (well-played by Marlene Willougby, R. Bolla, Roger Caine, David Morris and others) are sympathetically experienced by Alice in twin fashion.

This extraordinary erotic masterpiece cannot be praised enough, possessing a psychological richness that very few mainstream films, let alone adult films, can hope to match, evolving in unexpected ways, delivering an emotional low blow that should leave most first-time viewers stunned.

This Shaun Costello joke about Dickens's "A Christmas Carol" maintains a fairly faithful architecture to the novel. The grumpy old man Ebenezer transforms into the sexy but bitter Carol Scrooge (a Mary Stuart who barely lives up to the dramatic character) with that systematic hatred of Christmas, and of humanity in general. He warns Carol about the error of her ways and informs her that she will be visited by three spirits: The Ghost of Christmas Past, who returns her to the innocence of childhood where Carol manipulates her best friends into performing pre-adolescent physicals; the Ghost of Christmas Present, hosted by a tart-tongued drag diva, who shows her the happy, familial life of one of her abused employees; and the Ghost of Christmas Future, who guides Carol toward the possible hell that lies ahead in a dingy motel room as she forlornly sucks off and then rides a tortured client. This nightmarish glimpse provides her with all the epiphany she needs to change and wholeheartedly embrace the Christmas spirit.

Based on Gustave Flaubert’s scandalous 1856 novel Madame Bovary, a story centered on adultery and the protagonist’s life of misfortune, Woman in Love: A Story of Madame Bovary centers on Christine (a beautiful and melancholic Laurien Dominique), a bored housewife neglected by her husband (a concept all too common in contact films) who finds a job as a saleswoman in a fashion boutique owned by the wife of her husband’s boss, who uses the business as a hub for unbridled passion and unbridled fornication (as befits the great Vanessa Del Rio). There, Christine meets Giorgio, a wealthy regular customer who invites her to a private party where casual sex is the leitmotif. Christine doesn't feel comfortable, and before leaving, she is gently seduced by a painter (a brilliant Ron Jeremy) who overwhelms her intellectually, and with whom she falls passionately in love while her husband is away. But Christine's love affairs don't end there, and her sexual journey forces her to rethink many things before making a final decision.
The enigmatic filmmaker specializing in fornication, Kemal Horulu, had already entered the world of hardcore with impossible-to-fulfill promises, but his output has been relatively limited, albeit interesting and, above all, ambitious. With a legitimate literary source as a reference, this script could have been adapted somewhat better, although the main cast makes the most of each character. There are some intense and memorable sex scenes, most starring Dominique herself, and also industry star Vanessa Del Rio, in the role of the roguish socialite Simone Foster. The production stands out for its fluid resolution, thanks in large part to the intrinsic talent of the enigmatic Larry Revene behind the camera.

Title role here goes to Siobhan Hunter, the cute actress who never became a superstar but did contribute some good performances amidst the dross inevitable with her coming of age in the Video era. But stealing center stage is Tracey Adams, playing her mom.

A lesser Paul Vatelli offering, but not without its charms and points of interest, in the porn remake of WAR GAMES you didn't know existed. Kevin James is a computer whiz who uses his skills not to threaten national security, but to hack into a local dating service's computer and use the clients' information to his advantage, bringing their sexual fantasies to life. James is a decent enough lead to carry this threadbare storyline, as one of the early 80s industry's true Adonises, and he appears in all but one of the sex scenes here, certainly earning himself a super stud badge in the process. Porn and B film director Robert McCullum was apparently a pen name for Gary Graver, who once worked as an assistant for Orson Welles in his older less prosperous years. Some like me are not quite convinced they were the same person or whether he was an uncredited photography director for McCullum. His artistic touches are evident here in a long tracking shot where the husband, president of a construction company, leaves his wife (Honey Wilder) for a business trip and rides on an outdoor elevator or lift. The sex scenes are even more exciting while he cuts them to the best parts. Rhonda Jo Petty reaches a huge climax and then we cut to a "Men Working" sign outside the construction site. The more famous of porn are well displayed here in group scenes, John Leslie, Eric Edwards, Hershel Savage, and Robert Kerman (aka Richard Bolla).

The box office success of the "original" ALL American GIRLS proved so tremendous that Bill Milling could not resist setting up a sequel of sorts. Three more were to follow (UP, UP AND AWAY, HEART THROBS and ORIENTAL JADE) but number 2 pretty much had them all licked in terms of visual beauty, courtesy of returning DoP Ken Gibb and one of the prettiest female casts ever assembled. Laura (the late Shauna Grant at the height of her peachy perfection), is having relationship problems with errant boyfriend Brad (Blake Palmer, well before the hairline receded and the waistline careened out of control) who basically screws anything with a pulse, including scheming "best friend" Kimberly (future superstar Debi Diamond in her "Shelly Rey" stage). A captive audience for the girls' reminiscences is this time provided by Tom Byron, who fell overboard and is saved by the lovelies who want him to be the judge as to whose story turns him on the most.
