Until it loses its way in the last couple of scenes which proved very seedy compared with everything that had gone before, this was an extremely erotic which is definitely one to watch with your partner.
While making sure the eye-candy is great for the guys - and in Jennifer Burton and Monique Parent we have two of the best, with not a speck of silicone in sight thank goodness - the director makes sure he chose a couple of stars who could actually act too, so the character development was pretty good for a film devoting to offering as many sexy scenes as it could.
The whole film is seen from the female point of view, with the two married couples being seen to agonise about whether they should push the boundaries on their marriages - there is no way these people would jump into bed with just anyone. So this gave Play Time the realism that both men and women can identify with, as well as being predominantly a story of loving and straightforward sex between two sets of happily married, if stuck in a sexual rut, couples.

Metin is a former businessman, who fell into drugs and sex, that have led him to commit a murder, of which he recalls very little. After getting out of prison, his friend Yasar (nicknamed "Apollo") who is a drugs smuggler offers him a job, which he kindly refuses. He returns to the nightlife of Istanbul. He has sex with a prostitute and falls into some kind of amnesia, only to discover later that he has murdered her, as well. In complete shock, he runs away, hiding in some sleazy places while trying to remember what has occurred. He is convinced of his innocence, but can't remember a thing, blaming the booze for systematically getting into a state of amnesia. He has sex with nymphomaniac ex-sister in-law and then meets Gönül, friend of the murdered prostitute and herself a heroin-addict hooker, who decides to help him find out the truth. After many encounters with lots of people, he finally discovers the real murderer.

Tra(sgre)dire is actually a much better film than most of the crappy softcore porn stuff out there. It's directed by Tinto Brass; the same director who gave us 'Salon Kitty', a film that I've been meaning to see for ages and have never got round to, in spite of the fact that I have a copy. Anyway, for most of this film the camera focuses on Yuliya Mayarchuk's backside, but it's a nice backside so that isn't really a flaw. Yuliya Mayarchuk and her backside take the lead role, and she stars as a girl named Carla; who is on the lookout for some flats, right near a park filled with perverts and horny couples. She goes to an estate agent and meets a sexy woman named Moira, who wants her. She rents a large apartment and Moira gets her own way, and this causes trouble as Carla is in a relationship with a young man named Matteo. Naturally, Matteo is none too pleased with the way that his girl parades her assets all around town. He comes to London, and the pair has an argument over the pictures that he found in Carla's bedroom.

Director Aured is best remembered for his early films with Paul Naschy. These titles include THE MUMMY'S REVENGE, HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB and CURSE OF THE DEVIL. With those types of credits he might seem like a strange choice for a hardcore Spanish flick but there's no denying that he certainly created one of the strangest flicks ever made. Five people in a gang (two played by Ajita Wilson and Lina Romay) have fun by constantly having sex with one another and doing petty crimes but they decide to take things a step further by kidnapping a rich man's daughter. Soon they're demanding one-million in cash but they're also turned on by the fact that the girl is a virgin and they all want a part of her. Two versions were released: an R-rated and an uncensored hardcore version with explicit sex scenes. The hardcore version wasn't legal in Spain where it was made, so it was distributed in countries where it was allowed. Some if the actors who participated in the hardcore sex scenes signed contracts assuring them that version would never make it to Spain where it may harm their careers.

A strange Satanic cult gets together for group sex orgies. Yep, that's about it for the admittedly flimsy plot, but what the slight story lacks in substance is more than compensated for with a wealth of nudity -- both male and female alike -- and lots of hot, raunchy, and energetic (simulated) copulation. Delectable long-haired brunette Janet (sumptuous stunner Barbara Mills) goes reverse cowgirl on a lucky fellow. Repressed virgin Maggie (slim looker Pamela Westcott) gets deflowered. Buxom blonde Susan (Susan Westcott, who's got a fine pair of natural enormous breasts) does the nasty with several dudes with scorching abandon. Sadistic Madame Cobra (a deliciously hammy portrayal by the busty Linda Vroom) whips one poor sap after he fails to get an erection. Jim Jackson (hirsute hunk Richard Smedley) finds himself chained to a wall and forced to merely observe everyone else having considerable debauched fun. James Mathers, the burly guy with a mustache and bushy sideburns who plays a high priest who might be Satan himself, robustly overacts with cackling glee and gusto. The rough cinematography, groovy lounge music, and the incredibly cheap and threadbare sets further enhance the lovably scuzzy charm of this vintage 70's soft-core smut.

Proof that Hollywood has no ideas at all. It has been evident for a long time so why do I bother saying it even when you know it, I know it,m everyone knows it. Japan is where the action is. Characters are all non standard and non mainstream. Story is cool, hot and she is thin and attractive for the most part. By the time any of it became clear I no longer cared for any imperfections. This is perfect. Visually it works but with no fat or cellulite like in Hollywood films and because of the talent and hotness it never turns stale. Nature and old pop culture references make it any better. Acting was exciting but the roles required little more spice anyhow. It was already spicy. Very exciting because it could have been mainstream and instead it was realistic and true. Thanks for the zoom in button on my remote control. Had to make much use of it (oh yeah!).

What a delightfully odd and surprising entry in sexploitation features of the era. It's more than a little interested in surreal fantasy imagery, homoeroticism (not a big surprise perhaps given that the sibling directors later went from straight to gay porn), and other aspects very bizarre and ambitious for "skin flicks" at the time. I was also pretty surprised that there were hardcore interludes, though something I read online suggested that the filmmakers realized their movie was no longer marketable without those, so they shot some additional hardcore sequences to (ahem) insert. Still, this movie is dated 1970, and I didn't think there were any movies with graphic hardcore content playing U.S. porn theaters until at least a year or two later. Anyway, for a sex movie it's closer to cheap early 1960s Italian sword 'n' sorcery movies, that era's experimental cinema, Fellini imitation, and drive-in sci-fi/horror films than it is to most sexploitation of the period.

Well, this film isn't for everyone. It is in my possession because it stars one of my favorite sexploitation actors, Malta. It also stars Uschi Digart as her partner in crime. The two are hookers and as the film begins they are entertaining two "monks" in hooded robes. One of them provides some sort of chalice which contains a liquid. He dunks a dildo in it and proceeds to massage our girls upper bodies with it. These guys are twisted and the one with the massager definitely needs some dental work. All of the sex is this film is of the soft core variety, seeing as it was produced around 1970. After their monks are satisfied it's home for the girls, where they discuss their exploits and await the arrival of a new trainee. They have to break this girl in and prepare her for a life of prostitution. That new girl is played by Terry Johnson, another sexploitation starlet from that era. Before her arrival however Uschi and Malta, aka Neola Graf, get down to some girl/girl action on the living room floor. The picture quality on my print, which I have in VHS and DVD is between poor and fair.

No one made 'em quite like Eric Jeffrey Haims, who in a filmography of just five features created some of the most out-there soft- and hardcore content the world has ever seen. Diving recklessly between genres and modes of film-making (sometimes even within the same film, as in the narrative / white coater hybrid THE FLANDERS & ALCOTT REPORT ON SEXUAL RESPONSE), Haims was truly an X-rated auteur like few others. It's been a delight to see the restoration impresarios at Vinegar Syndrome recuperate so much of his work, much of which had previously been near-lost or presented in editions of abominable quality.
