Richard Strong who plays Daddy almost echoes Zebedy Colt's crazy performances like UNWILLING LOVERS or SEX WISH. The dude is sick, creepy, and gross.The ending where the daughter gets revenge on her father is a neat twist,doing what she always wanted.The scene where a dude is humiliated with a strap-on dildo and Daddy screeches "F%^K him!Suck him! F^%k him! Suck him!" Over and over is hysterical yet pretty disturbing.I don't think I'm going to watch this again... its too sinful.

"Breaking the Surface", writer-director Felicitas Korn's first feature-length film and film school graduation piece, won her the Best New Director Award at last year's Brooklyn Film Festival. As a snapshot from an aspiring photographer's life, it's a visually alluring one-woman show. Balancing a lot of clubbing with even more sex and a minimal amount of artsy work, Nadja's life sure is rich in production value. But the plot is flimsy, especially on motivation and coherence. What does Nadja (Henriette Heinze) see in Darius (Golo Euler), a shallow slacker almost ten years her junior? How the hell does she live (and support her mom!) on the odd skater shoot for an off-beat magazine? Ludicrous. But I must admit I enjoyed it anyway. I have a nagging suspicion it's mostly Henriette Heinze's slender dancer's frame, rarely seen with her clothes on, that kept me interested. But then, skinny girls getting their kit off have always been a staple asset of the movie business. Go see it if you had the hots for Elodie Bouchez in Yolande Zauberman's "Clubbed to Death" or Mareike Fell in "Over in the Rainbow".

Hedging his bets, Pécas shot both this and FELICIA soft-core with hardcore inserts to assure entrance to multiple markets. While Gambier, and to a much lesser extent Lemoine, had no qualms performing their own penetration shots, mainstream refugees (and subsequent prodigal sons, finding their niche on French TV) Darbois and Dany resorted to stunt doubles for their participation. As the focus remains on the resplendent Karine throughout, the sex scenes barely suffer as a result, the group grope pile-up a predictably crotch-grabbing climax though the comparatively low key liaison between Laura and Peter (occasionally morphing into his mustachioed Doppelganger Jack) the entire movie builds towards proves no less potent.

A Scream in the Streets fulfills its requirements as a 70s trash film. It's basically a variety of sex scenes occasionally interrupted by the plot. And the plot involves two police detectives, Ed Haskell (Joshua Bryant, the original 'Salem's Lot'), and Bob Striker (Frank Bannon, in his only film role), who must deal with various lowlifes: a young punk robbing a deli, a peeping tom, and the kicker: a rapist who is able to avoid detection because he's always dressing in drag!
The movie does have its moments. This viewer liked best the scene where two lesbians decide to "put on a show" for the peeping tom while surreptitiously placing a call to the police. Also among the thoroughly depraved male characters is a massage parlor customer who gets his kicks by whipping an employee with his belt. Her boss calls in the cops, but is far more concerned with the damage that the customer did to HIM. (He smashed his head with a beer bottle, and yet later we don't see a single drop of blood on the dodo's face.) The rapist is a total creep and yet is undeniably a hoot because there is no way in real life anybody would be fooled by this guy.

THE NAUGHTY VICTORIANS: AN EROTIC TALE OF A MAIDEN'S REVENGE is a very unusual movie and I'd highly recommend you read Roger Ebert's review of the film. In fact, as I read various reviews it became quite clear that some loved the picture while others truly hated it and those who hated it talked about the awful dialogue, the rather strange performances and the fact that this "hardcore" movie doesn't have too much hardcore. Those reasons for hating the film are quite legit and I honestly wouldn't argue with anyone who didn't like the movie but what's strange is the fact that I liked the film for those exact reasons. Yes, there's not too much hardcore sex in the picture and a lot of it is more suggestive than anything else yet that gave the film a rather unique style.

Though extremely tedious, ACQUAINTANCES proved interesting to watch 43 years after it was made, since it points up the pitfalls of incompetent pornographers. While a current generation through video has become accustomed to wall-to-wall sex, both soft and hard versions, looking back circa 1973 there still existed real-live theater owners, chains and bookers, and this level of material had no place.
ACQUAINTANCES, which on the Vinegar Syndrome DVD also displays the titles THE FLYING ACQUAINTANCES and THE SENSUOUS STEWARDESSES (both clearly afterthought monikers), is crudely slapped together scenes, many of them MOS with dumb voice-over dubbing, merely a XXX sex film without penetration or money shots, hence soft-core by default.
Presence of Nicole Vadim, a very lovely starlet of the period, points up its deficiencies. She starred in EIGHTEEN CARAT VIRGIN, a hit that played for years at drive-ins, where I saw it originally. That had a story, action and of course simulated sex, while ACQUAINTANCES is all sex.

Before he became "Anthony Spinelli", the late Sam Weston (indeed, brother of Hollywood comedian Jack) tried on a considerable number of pseudonyms for size, the most frequent being the no nonsense "Wes Brown" on early efforts like NIGHT CALLER and THE SEDUCTION OF LYN CARTER. Posthumously revealed as having been born Samuel Weinstein by similarly conflicted former porn gossip columnist turned "Rebel Without a Shul" Luke Ford, like so many he downplayed his Judean background for a life in pictures.
A psychiatrist (only heard in voice-over) employs two couples as guinea pigs by having them spend a weekend together at his secluded hideaway where they will attempt to live merely as husbands and wives, no specification of who's what to whom. Luscious Lorna (superstar Rene Bond) is married to used car salesman Dave (porn pioneer Keith Erickson, the Father Confessor in Weston's subsequent sulfurous AN ACT OF CONFESSION), a balding prankster who's a constant embarrassment to her and himself. Cora (one shot hippie chick Barbara Martin) proves equally frustrated who, though betrothed to hunky systems analyst Jack (Bond's spouse and regular co-star Rick Lutze), can't reach sexual nirvana because her better half refuses to go pearl-diving !

It's always amusing to watch Jess Franco convert the elements of any film genre into a confused, sleazy spectacle, and Downtown: Die Nackten Puppen der Underwelt is no exception. As if the genre of film noir wasn't already replete with clichéd scenarios, here comes Jess Franco's interpretation, a furiously banal, incredibly sloppy, crotch-shot-filled piece of cinematic madness that's overall worth watching.
Down Town tells the story of a private detective and two con-women strippers, one of whom sings hilarious showtunes in English, even though it's clear she doesn't understand a word of what she's saying. It stars Franco, no less, in the main role, and features much of the cast of other Franco/Dietrich collaborations, including the scrumptious Martine Stedil and of course, Lina Romay. The latter two partake in ample nude squirming, in an admirable attempt to portray sexual activity.

Probably due to its asinine, completely irrelevant title, TEENIE TULIP is an ignored early film from Gerard Damiano, sloughed off by both fans and historians. I found it to be a pivotal movie, one that actually points the way to a parallel world where Soft Porn ruled. That is to say, it is very easy to imagine an America where hardcore pornography was NOT legalized circa 1970, and where filmmakers had to continue as they had in the '60s to avoid showing verboten shots. Stag films existed underground for many decades and should have continued as the outlet for XXX porn, alongside (I am speculating) with European porn not permitted to pass through customs here.
But instead the floodgates opened, ultimately resulting in the porn domination of our culture, now largely via internet sources. But in the '70s the onslaught of XXX in the theatrical arena relegated softcore porn to novelty drive-in fare and eventually the snooze-inducing Cinemax late night cable garbage.

The wife ends up taking the native back to her home where all sorts of trouble begins to happen.
ORGASMO NERO was just one of many films that director Joe D'Amato made during this period, which mixed sex and horror. The most famous (or notorious) examples of this were PORNO HOLOCAUST and EROTIC NIGHTS OF THE LIVING DEAD but this film doesn't reach the same level as those two. If you're looking for horror elements then it's best you watch one of the previous mentioned films because ORGASMO NERO is more of a drama mixed with sex. The film is available in a 97-minute "soft" version as well as a hardcore version, which features Ramirez doing real sex scenes with Mark Shannon.
I watched the soft version (the hardcore scenes were an extra) and for the most part I found the film to be entertaining. I was really shocked at how caught up I got into the story because it's certainly nothing special.

Fourteen year old Alice (Charlotte Alexandra, really 20yo) is on summer vacation when she starts to experiment with her sexuality. Most of this has her doing things to herself but soon she starts to lust after an older guy. This was made in 1975 but the producer's were so shocked that they kept it on the shelf until 2001, after director Catherine Breillat's Fat Girl became such a hit. I enjoyed Fat Girl a lot more but this film here was pretty good, although the strong sexual content and nudity will certainly make most shy away from it. The way the director explores women's sexuality is brave to say the least.

Available on DVD from Max's, LOVE'S ISLAND is Joe Sarno's companion film to his acknowledged classic FÄBODJÄNTAN. Sarno eschews here the star system that dominates his porno films and videos, opting for people who don't resemble actors. Exception, of course, is the star-making turn by Leena, a slim, blonde beauty who is revered to this day among Swedish fans for the pair of Sarno performances. (Her discovery is analogous to a decade earlier Leena (Skoog) a buxom blonde beauty who, alas, was wasted in stupid British films and was best preserved in endless magazine layouts and short loops).
Leena stars as Katrin, a literal force of nature, who seemingly lives up in the trees on this remote little island. Though the film is not a fantasy, not even as much as FÄBODJÄNTAN and its magical horn, she seems to be a wood sprite or other legendary creature.
