This is a pretty well, if highly praised, film from the Spanish director, which is (apparently) available in three different versions. The version getting all the love and praise is the Spanish version while the French and Italian versions are re-edited with hardcore scenes and an alternate cast added to the mix. The version I watched was the Italian one, which is hard to review due to the hardcore scenes, which were added. The basic plot, I believe, is the same from each version and centers on a woman (Emma Cohen) who suffers a breakdown after the suicide of her sister (played by Lina Romay in this version). Soon after the suicide the sister begins to see her dead sister inside a mirror, which causes her to go out, bring men home and kill them. Again, it's really hard to judge this film due to the added scenes and the fact that the Spanish version is apparently totally different but there was enough here to I loved to recommend people seeing this but at the same time you should certainly try and get the original version (which I will be looking for).

I admit to being a big fan of the darker, more adult, and explicit side of Joseph W. Sarno's filmography (BUTTERFLIES, KÄRLEKSÖN, FÄBODJÄNTAN…), so I take full responsibility for how disappointing this film was for me. While the plot includes several softcore sex scenes, some quite explicit, none actually reveal any objective titillation or show the most intimate secrets of the attractive protagonists.
Eric Edwards plays an archaeology professor (I can't think of a less erotic profession for an essentially erotic plot) who spends a few days with his wife Laura (a fascinating Mary Mendum, also known as Rebecca Brooke) and his technical assistant Anna (the beautiful Cathja Graff, who could have been a sensational discovery in adult films, but who is so unremarkable that we'll never see her in any other role), collecting "stones" in a Swedish maritime environment for his "exciting" university studies. Anna not only admires the professor, but also begins a sexual and romantic affair with him behind his wife's back, while her wife sunbathes on the beach or visits friends in town. When she finally discovers everything, Anna plots a lesbian revenge that doesn't end as she expected.

The idea of a magic bauble that can grant people's sex fantasies dates at least as far back in porn as Gerard Damiano's 1971 XXXer THE MAGICAL RING, but rarely has it been as shoddily executed as Patrice Rohmm's LE BIJOU D'AMOUR ("The Love Jewel"). Given how much Rohmm impressed me with the similarly schizophrenic but infinitely more enjoyable DRAGUSE, it can't help but qualify as a disappointment.
Somehow both simultaneously threadbare and over-complicated, the plot concerns radio journalist Adrien (Jacques Manteil), forced by his boss (a young Brigitte Lahaie) into abandoning his vacation and taking up a departed colleague's report on succubi for their radio program. Venturing to a remote French village for a pre-arranged interview, the guy ends up bumping into some woman and buying a ring off her for 500 francs. When any lady touches it, Adrien finds himself transported to a cave where the two make love.

For the reason that I'm completely unsure who this film is aimed at (aside from film lovers like myself), I will not be recommending this one, but I'll also state that this is one of my favourite films in years. If that intrigues you, then maybe Poor Things is your cup of tea. Yorgos Lanthimos is a director with a clear vision that I deeply admire. I don't love all of his work, but the worst I can say about any of his films is that I appreciate them. Well, Poor Things just jumped to the top of my list of favourite Lanthimos pictures. This is a pure work of art, in the weirdest, most bizarre way possible. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the brilliance of Poor Things.

There are parts I really appreciated in the film but for all of its duration I was extremely uneasy with the fact that the film seems to completely forget it stages the sexuality of an infant. Debating free will and consent are one thing, one very good thing in fact. But by the time she arrives in Lisbon, she is a child. No two ways about that.

I don't think the film forgets that. The film is developing this fictional idea of a child in the body of an adult to explore what a life unaffected by societal conditioning, determined only by passion and lust would look like. If she chooses to have sex, so what? As you say, the big question is whether it happens consensually or not. At one point early in the movie, before the Lisbon sequence, the film hints at the possibility that she could be taken advantage of. But then it quite quickly makes very clear that she seeks sex on her own initiative and that she is the one who has the upper hand in all of her sexual encounters.

What makes me uneasy is how children in real life are brought up, in many cases learning that they have to submit themselves to certain social roles etc. in order to fit in in fundamentally oppressive systems. For instance Instagram and TikTok showing young girls how to perfectly fulfill the role of the sexy woman, dress and style themselves accordingly, in a hyper-sexualized way. That, to me, is a far bigger scandal than seeing a pure, liberated girl/woman/human being living the way she wants and I think this disparity is what the film wants to address.

I just don't get this conservative talking point that this film showed that "Hollywood wants to normalize pedophilia". It would be another thing if it was the story of an actual child engaging with men three times her age. But by inventing this figure of a woman with a child's mind, it so clearly points at the values lying behind the story, values of freedom and choice and liberation, and does not sexualize children (while other more mainstream Hollywood productions certainly do).

I get your point but at the same we in the real have never had to question the moral issues around this type of thing because Bella could never exist in the real world due to her creation method being impossible thus far.

Its worth noting Mark Ruffulo's character is portrayed as a sleazy creep but he's also not aware Bella has the mind of an actual child and it is shown as she grows and learns she starts to heavily reject him. By the time she's a whore she's very much an adult or a late teen, she's way more switched on and is seemingly smarter then most others and can very much make her own choices even if she's still prone to the manipulation of others. She's never sexually abused though and sex is something she heavily seeks out of her own free will, a 10 year old may start to have urges but they don't seek out sex even if their aware these urges are related to sex.

It is a very rare and hard to find film. I only know of two sources which carry it. Of all the hype I've heard of this little known rarity, it does stand up to what is said. This movie does deliver the goods. This masterpiece directed by Renato Polselli (aka Ralph Brown) was made in 73, but censors deemed the movie to obscure towards women. The films dialog was changed and not released until 79, taking on a different approach-now aimed at masculine perversions. Oscenità surely beats out the "sexploitation" competition by D'Amato and others. The film presents an array of nasties, from intercourse with a tree branch, candle masturbation, whipping, switchblade foreplay, orgies in the presence of animals, a woman urinating in a bucket, black magic lesbian rituals, toe masturbation, women fooling around with a real corn on the cobb, and last but not least; a scene with a woman and a donkey, which makes the one in Emanuelle in America seem very tame!! The film was published in Italian with no subtitles. The picture was not the best quality (which I think actually adds a surreal look to the film), but it was a very interesting viewing experience. I highly recommended this film for fans of exploitation and the obscure.

This here is best remembered for being the first softcore film to be shown in Australia as well as it featuring some very big stars. The film has a Professor talking to the camera and explaining various female fantasies. From here we see ten different stories dealing with women and their sexual fantasies. FANTASM basically has ten vignettes and I personally found the majority of them quite boring. I think the history behind this film is the main reason that it is remembered because there's really nothing overly special here in regards to the direction or the stories. I say this because by 1976 America was fully into hardcore pictures and softcore ones like this were pretty much being forgotten. Had FANTASM been released to America I doubt it would have done much but since this was a first in Austrlia it has a bit of history to it.

This movie was made about the time Jess Franco dove headfirst into hardcore porn after they legalized it in his native Spain (although he'd certainly been involved in it before in more liberal countries). It would take a bigger masochist than me to watch too many of Franco's hardcore efforts, but I think it's pretty safe to say the ONLY thing they had going for them was his leading actress/wife, Lina Romay. Romay is not only by far the best actress to ever grace a porn movie, but she was also incredibly uninhibited even by hardcore porn standards. (In one movie I saw she uses her tongue to clean up a mess a guy had left on another actress' backside, and then later she performs oral sex on a tied-up guy with a voraciousness somewhere between Linda Lovelace and the shark from "Jaws"--you could tell the actor was both really turned-on and completely terrified). This movie is not really hardcore porn, nor is it even one of Franco's extremely graphic softcore ficks (which I like to call "Lina Romay and friends go to the gynecologist"). What it actually seems to be is an unsimulated, but non-graphic porno movie--which may strike some as a waste of time, but it certainly is different at least.

Italian erotic film from the director of Caligula tells the story of Diana (Claudia Koll), a woman happily married to her husband (Paolo Lanza) for five years. Even though she loves him more than anything that doesn't take away her sexual desires for other men. The husband can't stand not being the only one but perhaps after time he'll learn that "all ladies do it". This is only my second film from Brass and his visual style is certainly on full display here even though his story telling skills aren't the greatest. I was shocked at how well the screenplay actually was because a lot of softcore efforts place the story second behind the sex but that really wasn't the case here. The message of a woman having the right to be "sexual" without being labeled "sluts" was taken very serious by the film. Brass does a very good job with the look of the film with some great cinematography and some wonderful set designs. The biggest issue I had with his direction is that the entire film comes off as a butt fetish video as Brass is constantly zooming in on women's behinds. I like a good butt as much as the next person but after a while it grows quite tiresome but the scene where the women decide to go skinny dipping is priceless. The performances aren't really anything special but they do the job and in the end God knows there's a lot worse out there than this.

Mindy Wilson as FLOSSIE: A VENUS OF FIFTEEN is the ultimate Victorian porn heroine in my book. The beautiful Maria Lynn/Marie Forsa is similarly well-cast as Mac Ahlberg's FLOSSIE, a film that only flirts with hardcore -perhaps its main defect. Maria is perhaps the ultimate embodiment of borderline hardcore action: her films for Joe Sarno are still revered as perhaps the ultimate of representing explicit sex on screen tastefully -without showing penetration. That is the format here -we see massive hard-ons (from hero Jack Frank) and simulated fellatio, but it's strictly softcore. Story has been updated from 19th Century to contemporary milieu, and follows exactly the same storyline as the VENUS OF FIFTEEN hardcore version. Capt. Jack Archer (Jack Frank) is immediately smitten with Flossie when he meets her and her patroness Eva (Kim Frank), and spends the rest of the film dry humping Lynn, until as a threesome he gets to deflower the young virgin under Eva's scrutiny.
