These vintage Zodiac Sign titled Danish porn features have a peculiar charm about them, but that can't hide the fact of dumb, filler entertainment on this Gemini edition. Yes, the silly story line revolves around twins.
I vaguely recall back in the day, notably in the case of such movies I attended like Bedroom Mazurka and Without a Stitch (latter quite memorably shown at a local Northern Ohio drive-in theater with English subtitles, pretty rare) that Danish porn both softcore and hardcore seemed to inhabit an entirely different universe than our domestic variety. Largely due to local mores, what was considered a "family film" in Scandinavia would be deemed pornographic or "Adult" here in the States.
Such is the case, as in between laborious slapstick running around and dumb gags, plus endless female toplessness and nudity for eye candy in the '30s set story, there are the briefest of XXX content in the form of blow-jobs or intercourse, often directed (with speeded-up footage a la "A Clockwork Orange"'s famous William Tell Overture sex scene) for comic effect. Simply not enough porn content to satisfy an Adult Cinema fan then or now.
Ole Soltoft is up to his usual tricks playing the lead role of a record label executive out to sign a blonde singer, but kidnapped and replaced by a substitute, his twin brother. The girls are pretty though none of them a knockout and the sex scenes are not sexy. Director Werner Hedmann lingers a couple of times on close-up blow jobs featuring very long cocks, but otherwise is skimpy on the old in & out.

This lovely astrology sign series has six titles. 'The Leo sign' version is one of my favorites. It deals with a plot whereby erotic diaries, just being published create turbulent situations among the persons involved. This all with flashbacks in a beauty full historian decor, shot with professional Danish actors and a professional director. This movie combines humor and slapstick. The difference with other movies is that it actually shows the spicy details. These hard core scenes are very well integrated in the story and become a natural part of it almost in an innocent way, almost like a family video for a Sunday afternoon. Wish there were a lot more movies like this.

This is probably the best of the Danish porn comedies from the mid 1970s - at least it is the one with the best production values. These films were fairly unique in that they combined genuine attempts at slapstick comedy (using some veterans from the Olsenbanden pictures) with equally genuine hardcore porn. The only other film I know of that goes anywhere near these areas is Britain's Come Play With Me, but the tight integration of these genres witnessed in the Danish pictures, especially this one, is completely unique.
While much of the humour falls flat this is more than compensated by a genuine sense of wackiness. The film has enormous curiosity value, and shows lots of apparent enthusiasm and energy.
Concerning the sexual intercourses, it appears as if Anna Bergman, Ingmar's daughter, had been body-doubled for her coital scene, while Gina Jansen, who is perhaps best known as the governor's girlfriend in Jess Franco's Sadomania, was at it herself.

A real bastard of a movie with Jess Franco and Joe D'Amato sharing directing credit. In 1975 Franco started shooting a version of de Sade's Justine, which was to be a remake of his 1968 film. The production ran out of money with only a handful of scenes shot so the production company brought in D'Amato to edit together this footage with two other Franco films (Midnight Party and Shining Sex). The end result is a real mixed bag because it really doesn't work as a film but it does work as a "greatest hits" of various sex scenes with Lina Romay. Romay was certainly in her prime while these three films were shot so she's easy on the eyes and Franco, as usual, captures her sexual nature quite well making for some very erotic scenes. D'Amato added a music score from his Black Emanuelle films, which was a nice touch.

With little budget (as the Austrian movie "industry" unfortunately has) obviously a director has to walk with different shoes than Hollywood. "Antares" is a good example of how to make the best of it.
In my point of view very often certain narrative concepts become so much in the thick of things, that characters turn secondary (I don't mean to say I don't like pictures which walk that way). IMO it is refreshing to see movies which succeed not to abstract too much, movies which do not take away too much from their characters because for example various storytelling concepts are requiring it.
With "Antares" for ~115minutes you get insight into various living conditions in Austria before something crucial happens. You see how people are, what their main problem is. And yes of course there is a clear idea behind this picture, but as I said before this idea is not imposed on the viewers. Solitude and isolation are crucial topics in "Antares". The entanglement of life's is another.
No doubt in a way several directors in this world have dealt with these very human aspects already. Only I haven't seen any other dealing with it in such genuineness like Spielmann - especially I haven't seen many other films from my country which managed to do that !
In a short: Authentic and real characters. Terrific writing and terrific acting. I especially enjoy the cynicism.All adds up to a real good austrian movie.

A group of women are having fun and working at their local whorehouse when the police storm the building and arrest them all. They are sent to a prison located on an island cut off from the rest of the world and it doesn't take long for them to fall victim to the evil warden (Karine Gambier) and her rapist guards.
Also known under its original title, GEFANGENE FRAUEN and ISLAND WOMEN, this film came pretty late in the whole WIP (women-in-prison) movement. I've often said that if you've seen on WIP movie then you've seen them all. The only difference in them is the level of cruelty that they will go for. To me Jess Franco's BARBED WIRE DOLLS is the best of the lot but CAGED WOMEN deserves a lot of credit as well.
The film was written and directed by Erwin C. Dietrich, the long time producer for several Franco classics including BARBED WIRE DOLLS. He certainly knew what he wanted to deliver and this here is pretty much a remake of that film. With that being said, this movie is without question one of the most gratuitous movies in the genre. I say that because the sleaze factor is pretty much off the charts and especially when it comes to the sexuality and nudity.
The opening twelve-minutes or so is pretty much just a showcase for the various women. We see all of the ladies strip down, masturbate and do various other sexual things that certainly cross the line of what you'd see on Cinemax. It's like the director is teasing us with all of the beautiful women he has lined up and it just grows even sleazier once we hit the prison. I also give the director credit because there's not a single ugly woman to be found here as they're all extremely attractive and constantly naked.

Helene (Valerie Boisgel) goes to visit an old flame but she's told by another man that he is busy with another woman. After some back and forth, Helene and the new guy strike up a sexual encounter and all is going well until a group of thugs break into the house.
LA VILLA, released on DVD under the title HELENE, is a French adult movie that apparently has a cult following by some people. I'm not exactly sure who these people are as I found the film to be rather boring even with its short 73-minute running time. The film was obviously meant to be shocking but to me it was just to poorly made to leave any sort of impression.
I guess I'd argue that Boisgel was the best thing in the film as she was at least easy on the eyes and I'd probably also say that she turned in a fine performance. I thought she was quite good in the role and she was at least believable for what the part asked of her. None of the supporting players really jumped out at me but this might have been due to the poor dubbing.
As a sex films I thought it was pretty boring and I certainly didn't find any of it erotic. As a thriller the film wasn't all that thrilling and in all honesty I thought it really dragged. The entire film had a very cheap feel to it and in the end it was nothing more than some minor entertainment.

This movie was made back in 1972, its title an obvious play on the French moniker for John Huston's THE MISFITS. It garnered surprisingly good reviews when it was shown on the Cannes movie market that year (Gee, could it be possible that erotic films somehow carried less of a stigma in the early '70s than they do now ?) and, as it predates Just Jaeckin's landmark EMMANUELLE by at least a year, should perhaps be considered a worthier starting point for classy, almost mainstream erotica than that overblown skin flick. Though you wouldn't know it from the spiced-up - read : insert-laden - DVD version currently available in the US, from VCX as MARIANNE BOUQUET (including an additional sequence involving American performers Eileen Welles and John Seeman), it was also not hardcore. That would've been impossible in '72 France where explicit on-screen sex was still some three years away.
It is however a stunningly photographed erotic drama about a philosophical philanderer named Michel (intriguingly played by the enigmatic Lemoine himself) who drags his not altogether willing wife Marianne (exquisite brunette Claudia Coste who would subsequently fade into a life of bit part obscurity) into a series of carnal affairs with members of both sexes, with ultimately tragic results. Statuesque Janine Reynaud - Mrs. Lemoine when the cameras weren't rolling - has never been displayed to greater advantage as she performs the most memorable frivolous feats as horny fashion model Francis, so named because her parents wanted a boy ! She becomes Michel's amorous accomplice when the uptight Marianne bows out, ruining a perfectly good match when she too expresses desire for love and monogamy, leading to an unforgettable sequence where she gets up to shake her booty at a night club, having told her paramour to either wait for her - which will serve as silent acceptance of sexual singularity - or get out while he still can. No prizes for guessing!

Remarkable fly on the wall documentary about the making of "The Last Affair," which was an independent feature made in Chicago, Illinois with a strict stipulation mandated by its financial backers that it had to include explicit hardcore sex scenes in order to capitalize on the porno chic trend which was popular in the mid-1970's. However, the shooting of the movie doesn't go as smoothly as planned, with various unforeseen complications along the way to its completion: The gentle soft-spoken director Henri Charr was earnest in his intentions, but clearly in over his head with the shooting of the sex scenes, lead actress Debbie Dan turned out to be an insufferable neurotic who didn't get along with hunky and cocky male co-star Jerry, one gal finds doing a solo masturbation set piece to be a degrading experience, Dan gets her period at a most inopportune moment, an actor portraying a dirty old man goes much too far with his raunchy improvised dialogue, and boastful braggart Jerry finds himself unable to get an erection during the shooting of a pivotal sex scene with Dan, which necessitated the use of a stand-in at the eleventh hour.

This cheesy slice of Italian B-movie schlock has all the production value and style of a trashy 80s sci-fi series rapidly approaching cancellation (think Buck Rogers in the 25th Century at the end of its second season), with cheap and nasty costumes, crappy set design, terrible special effects, two-dimensional comic-book heroes, dastardly villains and attractive women in sexy but impractical outfits. But where the titillation in a programme like Buck Rogers always ended with just a tantalising glimpse of cleavage or thigh, Beast in Space goes much further, punctuating its silly space fantasy action with bouts of porn, starting off soft-core, but eventually progressing to the harder stuff.
The risible plot sees Vassili Karis as starship captain Larry Madison, who leads a mission to the remote planet Lorigon where there reputedly exists a sizable deposit of the rare element Antalium. Once on the planet, Madison and his crew (three of whom are sexy blonde women) explore a castle where they are welcomed by the planet's ruler Onaph (Claudio Undari), who takes a keen interest in the female crew-members, particularly the insatiable Lt. Sondra Richardson (Sirpa Lane).
In the relaxing atmosphere of Onaph's castle, the crew begin to enjoy themselves, perhaps a little too much: after witnessing two horses mating in a stable, they begin to get fruity with each other and give in to their desires, participating in an orgiastic display of wanton carnal lust (phew!). Even Onaph joins in on the fun, revealing himself to be a well-endowed faun like creature and pursuing Sondra through the woods with the intent of getting busy. It's not long before the woods are alive with the sound of humping.

Previously seen as an Italian language video without subtitles, this seems to be a transfer of a similar print, still without subtitles. Amazing stuff! Purports to be a documentary with a psychiatrist interpreting the bizarre newspaper stories of rape, orgy, bestiality, bit more rape, S&M, more orgy (pretty good actually) and a someone pretending to iron his lady's nightie with her still in it and someone pretending to be a dog- oh and a threesome where the two men get it off. Along the way we get to see more glorious minis, both skirts and dresses than I've ever seen in one film and hardcore sequences. Probably all the better without subtitles, I don't expect the commentary was very profound - enjoy!

For the second installment of my walk down mammary lane, I would like to review as best I can a film I haven't seen in 27 and a half years. Ouch ! Playing on a double bill with Ron Sullivan's magnificent BUDDING OF BRIE at the now long gone if fondly remembered Paris theater in the coastal town of Ostend, Belgium, one sunny Spring day in 1982, was this STARSHIP EROS, an unholy hybrid of low brow science fiction and skin flick which has since faded into obscurity. Even in the age of DVD, with just about anything weird and wonderful eventually resurfacing to face the light of day, this one has yet to materialize. My virtual buddy, the estimable Casey Scott (valiantly slaving away on what should be the definitive account of American porn history), has informed me that battered old 16mm copies have changed hands for a small fortune on eBay. Perhaps the absence of star power, rendering the commercial prospects of restoration and distribution extremely dodgy, is the reason why this particular title remains under lock and key, if surviving at all that is.
Memory being a bit shaky, yet pressed into duty since no one else seems to have bothered to review this movie at present, I will attempt to describe to the best of my waning abilities the fairly mind-blowing experience of seeing this projected onto the big screen back when I first managed to bluff my way into an adults only cinema at the tender age of 14 ! Specifics might be a bit hazy but I assume any info on a flick this rare would be welcome. The stuff I do recall from my humble beginnings, I will try and filter through the knowledge I have acquired through research since.
