Unholy Ground is a bizarre one. The merging of gory horror and pornography is nothing new. Anybody who has seen Porno Holocaust or Texas Vibrator Massacre can attest to that, but those films are nowhere near as dialogue heavy and while all three are sincere, Unholy Ground seems serious. To be honest I missed the finer point of the plot. In an unnamed Austrian village the townsfolk are struck down by what appears to be the plague and some of the villagers summon the devil in a ritual. The film is not sex heavy with not much other than a bit of topless nudity happening for 20 minutes. The sex on offer is hardcore with explicit oral sex, penetration and money shots. We've seen it all before in La Bête (1979) and the masturbating with a crucificx would be shocking if it wasn't done better in The Exorcist and the uncut version of The Devils. The gore on offer is also very graphic with tongues being ripped out, skin peeling and heads being chopped off. Definitely wouldn't be out of place in the slew of straight to video horror put out in the last decade.

Films like this are rated on their style and visuals more than their plots, and that's definitely a good thing when it comes to Nude for Satan as the plot is confusing, pointless and silly; but at least director Luigi Batzella manages some striking scenes and visuals which just about make this tacky horror flick worth a look. The plot, which focuses on a man out driving, is really typical of films like this, and features clichés such as a rainy night, a stranded woman and a foreboding old castle. Naturally, it turns out that there is more to the castle than meets the eye; as the woman who greets him at the door looks exactly like the one he's just picked up, and that's just the start of it. I would describe this film as Satanism meets the lesbian vampire genre with some additional weirdness thrown in. The women are, naturally, nice to look at and the fact that there are a few lesbian sequences doesn't go down badly. The most interesting part of the film involves a woman trapped in a spider's web: I don't really have an idea what it was all about, but it looked nice and that's the most important thing. Overall, Nude for Satan is not one of the best films of this type, but unlike many; it's at least worth a look.

Art-house and porn collide in this extremely bizarre and mildly poetic film from Spanish director Jess Franco. A young woman (Lina Romay), with vampire like qualities, lives alone in a castle where a new reporter (Monica Swinn) comes to do a story on her. It appears Doriana needs to suck the life out of various men and women, in a sexual way, in order to stay young but she gets none of the sexual feelings out of it. Those go to her sister, also played by Romay, who is locked up in an asylum where she goes through various sexual fits whenever Doriana is with someone. If you've seen VAMPYROS LESBOS or even FEMALE VAMPIRE then you know what to expect with the "sucking life out of someone". Being Franco, this is done with sexual heat and this time out it crosses into hardcore range. I think a lot of hardcore scenes are rather ugly and unerotic but I think that's the point. The rather ugly sex scenes really make you feel the fact that Doriana isn't getting any pleasure out of the situations either. Franco likes to give graphic close ups of the sexual act and his way of filming them is rather ugly and dull but I mean both of them in a good way. I personally prefer FEMALE VAMPIRE but this is still a rather surreal film that mixes both genres. Romay turns in a fairly good performance even though I think she goes way too over the top with the locked up sister. Some of her "masturbation fits" are also a bit over the top with Franco's slowed down camera but outside of that there's not too much to complain about. The hardcore scenes will certainly keep a lot of people away but then again, Franco's name alone keeps a lot of people away. This isn't a pretty film but it's not suppose to be and that's where the films magic really is.

One might say and/or think that strokes is quite the innuendo here. And if you watch the explicit cut of the movie (there is a softer version available of this), you would be excused for calling it a pun. Having said all that, this is quite the family. If you try to be open minded (if you aren't already or maybe your family is close to this anyway), you will get a story of how (not) to raise your kids. And how to grow up, how to communicate ... actually as this is one example of how things can go down, you can imagine that this is not a blueprint. Nor for or against anything shown here.
As said, some might want to try the softer version, if you don't want to see certain things. Funnily enough both versions are rated 16 in Germany. Which I guess says something about how sex is being seen and appreciated (or marginalized). Again it is always a matter of perspective and how you have grown up, what you have been taught. So don't blame the movie for certain things it depicts or the fact that almost everyone is beautiful (although I've been told I'm too nice in certain regards, so you may have other beauty values yourself). French cinema over the last decades has gone nude ... not all of it, but they seem to like the theme and they don't shy away - provoking much? Maybe, but there comes a point (no pun intended), where it is almost normal, yes? Is that good or bad? Who am I to judge?

Remake of Malabimba, The Malicious Whore follows the same storyline pretty much and also cuts out the hardcore sex scenes. This time out it's Jacqueline Dupre playing the young girl who is being possessed and Mariangela Giordano reprises her role as the nun. This is a pretty straight forward remake so if you've seen the original movie then you're not going to have any twists or turns that you don't see coming. It's hard to say which movie is better as both have good and bad things going for them. I think this one works nicely without the hardcore scenes but at the same time this film here isn't nearly as sexy or erotic as the original. This film is also pretty straight forward and doesn't contain as many campy moments, which is the main reason I'd rewatch the original over this one. This one here does have some great cinematography and some nice eye candy in the form of the beautiful naked women but I wouldn't really call this film necessary.

The explicit version of the film was one of the rare opportunities to see the gorgeous Marie depicting explicit sex on the big screen (she usually used body doubles for such scenes). In a single, uncut shot, she can be seen enjoying a loving act with Eric, for which many of us are sincerely grateful.

The Albanian military has developed a missile worth worrying about because, fired from the torpedo tubes of an attack submarine (archive footage of US Navy SUBROC test launches was used here), it could deliver a payload to any major Western European city from the Adriatic, or even hit the East Coast of the United States. Of course, Albania has never had anything like this, but that hardly matters to the plot. A man named Stanley, an Albanian spy, is now a double agent, and has stolen the plans for the new missile, microfilmed them, and smuggled them to Tangier in a woman's powder compact. Stanley has offered to sell the film to Danish military intelligence for $10 million. Naturally, Danish intelligence isn't the only party interested in the microfilm. The Albanians obviously want it back, and their chief spy is on the case with the help of an assassin dwarf. To further complicate matters, Stanley has rigged three seemingly identical decoy powder compacts with small but powerful booby traps.
“Agent 69 Jensen i Skyttens Tegn” (“In the Sign of Sagittarius”) was once considered the final straw in the Danish zodiac saga, and the funding tap for future productions was cut off. Unfairly, it was also the last film in the career of Ole Søltoft. While he was never a great actor, he undoubtedly managed to bring a smile to our faces in this mythical and silly saga, as wholesome as it was necessary. We mustn't forget that Denmark abolished all film censorship before its Swedish neighbors, opening the floodgates for skin and sin to spread across local movie screens.

After Thriller Vibenius made this really hard to find film. Until today it is still unavailable on VHS or DVD. Strange after the success of Thriller. But this is more explicit than Thriller. It's no revenge movie but a movie about a depraved man. He really has a sick mind, I guess...Whenever he see a girl he only wants to make love to them but in satisfaction of his own. So it all is filmed in the explicit way cum included. But still it wasn't categorized as porn. The way he edited the movie and used the score, much delay, reminded of Thriller. But this really is sicker, especially when he goes to a park with a young girl. Guess what's on his mind. As you see on reviews I won't spoil the ending. Try to catch yourself a copy, and be sure it's in English.

The beginning of the story is promising. A sensitive 19-year old plays a sensitive instrument. She is shy and has difficulties to express her (sexual) feelings, also through music. That's why her music is numb. When she discovers that erotic stimulation benefits her play, she improves the sound she produces through the violin. So, I interpreted the violin as a symbol of the body of the young woman. I interpreted the music as the expression of passion a human being can have for life: friendship, dreams, sex and love. Therefore I interpreted the improvement she made in her music, as a learning process in her life to catch her dreams. That's why I expected that passion shout have been the key in the story. Sometimes it does. But most of the time the main actress doesn't show much energy when you would expect it. Maybe that's why I didn't feel the love connection between boy and girl. Maybe that's why I did not believe the importance of the dream the girl has. The friendship between girl and girl was also numb. The sex was very expressive and very naked (pure human) in a good way, but is never really passionate. The music is important in the movie, but lacks the satisfying emphasis it deserves.

La Sanguisuga Conduce la Danza, or The Bloodsucker Leads the Dance as I believe is it's common English title, is set on 'Ireland' in '1902' where the mysterious Count Richard Marnack (Giacomo Rossi-Stuart) invites soon-to-be out of work theatre actress Evelyn (Patrizia Webley as Patrizia De Rossi) & three more of her fellow soon-to-be out of work actress friends Cora (Krista Nell), Penny (Lidia Olizzi) & Rosalind (Marzia Damon as Caterina Chiani) to his castle situated on a small island just off the coast. At first Evelyn is reluctant but is persuaded when it is agreed stage hand Samuel (Leo Valeriano) goes along as well. Once there Count Marnack tells his guests that his Father & Grandfather both cut the heads off their cheating wives using a ceremonial knife & there's a feeling of unease when it turns out that Evelyn looks EXACTLY the same as the current Count's wife who ran away not too long ago... Along with having to worry about weirdo servants it turns out that someone wants to use the knife themselves to chop a few heads off...

In Europe, quite a few pornographic films from the early 1980s were shot in two versions, hard and soft - partly because the industry wasn't sure where things were heading and partly to keep their feet in two rather separated markets. This film is an example for that.
Sadly, it is also an example that shows the fundamental problems of this approach. The soft version suffers from an unprofessional cast that can't act and an over-reliance on sex scenes: it is not wall-to-wall, but comes uncomfortably close, interrupting the narrative and ultimately failing to pick it up again. The hard version enjoys production values modern porn makers can only dream about, but the photography of the coital scenes is unimaginative and rather anonymous, making one wonder how often body doubles were engaged. The smutty dialogue has also badly aged: its novelty value is lost, revealing so much clearer its unsuitability for the historical context in question.

Though recently revived with some fanfare by Seduction Cinema/After Hours on DVD, SYLVIA is a flop '70s hardcore porn film that reflects many of the pitfalls of the genre during its brief "porno chic" era. Untalented filmmaker Peter Savage, wisely hiding behind a pseudonym, tried to make a real movie rather than a 90-minute sex loop, but his lack of prowess shows up early; in crude editing, and even violating the simple centerline rule of matching reverse shots (in an early car scene featuring Helen Madigan & Pamela Serpe). Casting is 90% of the job most times, and here he failed miserably. In the demanding title role of Sylvia, a destitute man's LIZZIE or Eve from 3 FACES OF EVE, Joanna Bell is unattractive and varies from boring non-acting (as Sylvia) to over-the-top overacting (as Sylvia's several alternate personalities, fighting for dominion in her body). Her sole skill displayed is a mastery of the all-important (at the time) deep-throat technique, resembling that of all-time great C.J. Laing. But the frequent hardcore porn footage here is unerotic, just boring and poorly shot and edited.

The newly married Kirsten is startled by the sexual expectations of her husband Børge, a handsome young sunlamp salesman man. He wants an advanced sex life from his wife in vain. So she leaves him and returns to her parents'. When she tells her parents about it, it becomes her father's inspiration. He and their neighbor Svend decide to swap the bedroom for a night without their wives' knowledge. Meanwhile Kirsten's distraught husband takes up bachelor life with gusto, and beds many of the women who come to comfort him. But after several entanglements, the respective couples find themselves again.
I watched this movie by the time of its release. Twenty five years later I still remember that I enjoyed it a lot. All I can remember of the plot is that two neighbors decide to swap wives and set up a very complicate plan to do it. The complications and the results of this plan are hilarious. By today standards it should now be a B movie, but male FFN (full frontal nudity) was not a common thing by then out of X rated movies.
