Marylin Jess epic performance in this film is to be admired and revisited. She plays the daughter of a French Prostitute who is tempted in following her mother's career. Teased and tempted by the people she encounters until her voracious appetite drives her to one of the clubs her mother frequents. The end of this film is one of the greatest in adult film history. It's one of the most faithful representations of Sade's philosophies put on screen. And a female positive representation (for the time). Élisabeth Buré and Marylin Jess steal the show. This film is released under a different title "La Vorace".

Lustig's second (known) porn film has young Honey (Heather Young) being dumped by her boyfriend of four months because she won't allow him to do anything but kiss her. She lives at home with her injured brother who she eventually catches messing around with his nurse (Serena) and this sets something off inside her. It's not really know how many adult movies Lustig made. He admits to this one and the previous THE VIOLATION OF CLAUDIA but there could have been more that we don't know about. This film certainly isn't a masterpiece but it's certainly a lot better than your typical bump 'n grind flick. I think fans of the director will want to check this out as you can clearly see stuff here that would come in use two years later when the director made his masterpiece MANIAC. Both films contain a lot of footage of 42nd Street and the various porn theaters down there. This movie kicks off with a marquee of JAWS 2 with a poster of THE SWARM being in the background of coming soon. This sequence continues past some porn theaters where we see even more posters.

With its retro soundtrack, impressive 70s poster art, cool blaxploitation trappings, stunning female lead, gritty audio and grainy video, and explosive violence—and especially considering its overall obscurity—its not difficult to understand how QT would go gaga for Hot Summer In The City, but to be honest, the film really isn't deserving of such high praise.

Zebedy Colt was an impish pornographer who started in his early 40's circa 1975. He had a playful contempt for the genre he aged into. His output in the 70s displayed a great deal of frustration. As an open gay man the straight sex scenes in his films were down right nasty and misogynistic: rape fantasy's, incest, golden showers etc. But the men he put in his films were generally Adonis adjacent Michelangelo' Davids. "Babylon Nights" finds him in his advanced years generally more jolly and self parodic. While still a mashup. Here we have a behind the scenes porno parody in which he plays an exaggerated version of himself as porn director. It's like his 81/2 or Max Rose. Gone is his vehement disdain for the genre. We find him more playful than ever. It is a story of an incidental porn actress who goes from nobody to star through her chameleon like ability to adapt to the crazy industry she has found herself in. The behind the scenes angle told by a true insider is a delicious insight into the industry in its hey day.

Not present in the IMDb database until I added it this week (40 years after release), "The Sex Window" is one of those insider looks into the porn industry, French division. Unlike the famous and far more pretentious 1975 feature "Exhibition" (which I unfortunately saw back then at the NY Film Festival when it was riding the Porno Chic wave into undeserved respectability) it is light, ephemeral entertainment. We have an attractive redhead free-lance femme reporter assigned to do an expose on porn production in Paris, and she spends a week on set watching pros (with the crew doing double duty on screen) at work. Not surprisingly, she's won over by the profession, in the age-old porn trope of promoting its industry to outsiders and the viewing public at every opportunity. The sex scenes are brief and uninvolving, hardly erotic but more documentary in nature. Many a familiar French porn player of the '70s pops up, led by the Numero Uno in the field, Brigitte Lahaie. Precious little is learned about the local industry, as talented director Gerard Kikoine treats this project with minimal respect.
