Penetration Sarah Hagan in Sun Choke (2015)

Enhanced and close up redo of Sarah Hagan's sex scene with William Nicol in Sun Choke (2015) from 1080p Blu-ray source.

Before the use of Intimacy Coordinators in 2018 that has ruined all spontaneity between actors, we have this rarity from Sarah Hagan, of TV's "Freaks and Geeks" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fame. In a May 2015 interview for Scream Horror magazine, about the one particular scene with William Nicol that mixes sex and violence at the same time, Sarah said:

"SH: Absolutely, especially as I had never done either one of those. Yeah, that was crazy. It’s like the ultimate challenge. It was like, “Right, we’re actually doing this.” But yeah, I don’t even know what to tell you about that. *laughs*"

Hmm... given that it's the first sex scene she's ever done, it seems like things might have gotten a little carried away on set and they decided "Why not ... let's just do it". She coyly hints that there was more to the scene in saying "we're actually doing this" with the added laugh at the end.

Definite penetration but I'm always suspicious if you don't see the face, could have been a body double. Is there any proof from the full scene that this is actually her - just because she said she "actually did it" in an interview doesn't do it for me either.

Like Nightwood, I'm always cautious when you can't see the face! It's difficult to prove that it was really her, and in interviews, you can say anything.

On the contrary, I think it's a good thing that sex scenes are regulated and that the actors' well-being is taken into account! Yes, the golden age is probably behind us, but that's the way it is, we have to accept it...

the fact that explicit sex scenes with actors who aren't from the porn industry are rare is what makes it so appealing, in my opinion. If it were commonplace, it would lose all its appeal.

And anyway, films including real sex have never really been mainstream. They're rare; they were often underground or "erotic" films. And I think that in 99 percent of cases, there's not much point in having real sex.

And it's a whole logistical undertaking; first you have to find actors, especially an actress who would agree to film real sex scenes (that's not common). It has to offer something more than porn: a story, beautiful aesthetics, or something else… Alternatively, some actresses agree, but under certain conditions or vague circumstances. Not to mention the countless possible tricks: body doubles, fake penises, CGI. There are few actresses who fully assume real sex.

In my opinion, we will always have real sex with actresses who do not come from porn, but it will be in underground films or short films. But feature films with real sex will remain exceptional. I think it's better to focus on small projects.

To me, the holy grail is these type of scenes where you were not meant to clearly see it unless it was slow downed, zoomed in, or enhanced (the theme of the thread "Details hiding in the shadows", where you stop and go "Did I just see what I thought I just saw"?

The original Sun Choke scene is dark and goes by quickly, so unless you had a keen eye you wouldn't have noticed it. Why bother bodydoubling the scene if it wasn't meant to be clearly seen on screen.

My other favourite scenes are Clara Choveaux's blowjob in Elon Nao Acredita na Morte (2016), Eva Green's boner grab in The Dreamers (2003), Natalia Lopez's blowjob in Our Time (2018), Kim Dickens' penis grab in Out of Order (TV Mini-Series 2003), and Amy Rochelle's sex scene in Masseuse (1996). You will notice that they are all produced prior to 2018. Will we see any more of these hidden gems in future productions ... although even more unlikely now, I'm still holding onto hope.

This is my absolute fav EM scene, especially since it mixes sex and violence so well.

However, I have a contra theory which makes me believe this is not actually an em scene. I personally think that the scene was shot with the male actor wearing socks to prevent the cock from being vertical and rub her inner thighs. I think while shooting, she was trying to enact the violence part in the best possible manner, and that made her body (esp hips) violently jerk around (something which looks rather realistic) around his torso.

In last few frames, this violent jerking around caused that gap between their crotches to be rather clearly visible, making it clear that they aren't having sex. That would have looked a little odd, and taken away much of the impact from the scene. To quell that, they added cgi later on.

I would really love to know that the above theory doesn't hold water. For example, the movie didn't have enough budget to afford cgi, there are clear signs that cgi wasn't used, etc.

For me what they say in interviews has very little credibility.

Interesting theory but let's not assume there's CGI that would be used on every movie, especially where the scene doesn't call for ... it is very expensive and for a scene that is going to be dark on screen anyways, why go through the expense to animate an erection in CGI that wouldn't be seen. Also in the movie credits, there is no reference to the use of a VFX studio that would render CGI animation.

As for the cock sock, that is likely but if you watch her movement of her hips and the way his cock tracks her movement perfectly, unless his cock is pressed firmly onto her body it would not move like that through all the jerking around to the very last frame of the scene.

Last frame ... and his cock is still in perfect alignment centered on the crack of her ass.

Here's my take on what went on. It's a first time doing a sex scene for both and they're excited. He gets a boner from having this naked girl straddling him and a breast in his face. Since time is money on the set, there's no slowing down to wait for his excitement to go down. His hard dick is rubbing against her and she also gets aroused, so she just spontaneously pops it in. Since they are shooting from the back, figures nobody would notice. She does her scene with the fake blood flying everywhere until director says "cut" and he's satisfied with the shot. Everyone is so focussed on getting the violence of the scene done right that they don't notice the EM. During editing they catch the EM and since time is money there's no going back to reshoot the scene, so they just figure that darkening the scene should cover it up. Notice how much darker the room is even though there is a bedside lamp on. The level of brightness for room in the enhanced edit of the scene is what it should have been if it was more realistic.

It's one of those, did she or didn't she that nobody will ever confirm.

That's a pretty neat explanation. Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

Now I can happily go back to my world in which this is one of my favourite EM scenes!
