I'm not really an expert, but there are newer video codecs, like VP9, h264 or h265, that can get better quality at the same filesize. The specific application doesn't really matter too much, as long as you can tell it to use better codecs or settings.

If you tell me what you've been using, I'll do my best to figure out how to get more out of it
