I know right?
Damn, will we ever see again a "9 songs-ish" type of movie?
All you need is two actors and an apartment. I always wanted to revisit that concept, when I was really into filmmaking I had done some draft of ideas and settings for a project like that; a weekend type of story, just a couple in their own little world for a while, tasteful but unfiltered intimacy. But that shit would never fly now.
9 Songs was the first to really push it that far, it was novel, like holy shit are we really doing this? But now that it's been done, it would be seen as gratuitous and exploitative and probably a career killer for anybody involved. The shock of that movie was enough to blur the line between art film and porn and make it "acceptable" (I've seen that movie on canadian cable for gods sake!) but now unless you're a shock director like Gaspar Noe or Lars von Trier (and honestly they could never direct an intimate movie like 9 Songs) how do you even go about financing a project like that without getting laughed out of every producers office?
Someday someone's gonna do it, but you need some balls and some deep pockets and it will never be on canadian cable!
